Franklin is a city in and the county seat of Venango County, Pennsylvania, United States, located at the confluence of French Creek and the Allegheny River. The population was 6,097 in the 2020 census. Franklin is part of the Oil City micropolitan area.

Teams from 150 high schools competed as varsity ice hockey teams in Western and Eastern Pennsylvania. Unlike many other high school sport in Pennsylvania, hockey is not run under Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association umbrella. However, Pennsylvania's high school ice hockey is sanctioned by USA Hockey and varsity-level programs are marginally overseen by the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers organizations through the Penguins Cup and the Flyers Cup. However although it is considered a club it is still a part of the High School and is affiliated with the school.

District 10 is one of the PIAA's 12 athletic conferences and comprises high schools in Erie, Pennsylvania and surrounding counties to the south and east. Member schools are classified by enrollment into four categories based on the number of students: A, AA, AAA, AAAA. District 10 is commonly referred to as "D-10" and is sometimes notated with the Roman Numeral "X".

It enrolls 1200 students in grades 7-12. It is located off Pennsylvania Route 981. The high school was opened in 1964, and the junior high was added in 1975.

The Ferndale Area Junior-Senior High School is a public high school, located at 600 Harlan Avenue, Ferndale, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. It serves the boroughs of Brownstown, Dale and Lorain as well as Middle Taylor Township. In 2014, Ferndale Area Junior Senior High School's enrollment was reported as 337 pupils in 7th through 12th grades. The current high school buildings opened in 1931 and 1938 and were renovated between 1978 and 1979. They also have had a couple different renovation projects over the years.
