A literary magazine is a periodical devoted to literature in a broad sense. Literary magazines usually publish short stories, poetry, and essays, along with literary criticism, book reviews, biographical profiles of authors, interviews and letters. Literary magazines are often called literary journals, or little magazines, terms intended to contrast them with larger, commercial magazines.

Milkweed Editions is an independent nonprofit literary publisher that originated from the Milkweed Chronicle literary and arts journal established in Minneapolis in 1979. The journal ceased and the business transitioned to publishing. It releases eighteen to twenty new books each year in the genres of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Milkweed Editions annually awards three prizes for poetry: the Lindquist & Vennum Prize for Poetry, the Jake Adam York Prize, and they are a partner publisher for the National Poetry Series. In 2016, Milkweed Editions opened an independent bookstore.
Bellevue Literary Review (BLR) is an independent literary journal that publishes fiction, nonfiction and poetry about the human body, illness, health and healing. It was founded in 2001 in Bellevue Hospital and was published by the Division of Medical Humanities at NYU School of Medicine. BLR became an independent journal in 2020. Danielle Ofri is the editor-in-chief and co-founder of BLR. The managing editor is Stacy Bodziak, Suzanne McConnell is fiction editor, Sarah Sala is poetry editor, and the nonfiction editor is Damon Tweedy.

Bilingual Review Press is an American publishing house specialising in the publication of scholarly and literary works by Hispanic and Latino American authors and researchers. It was founded in 1973 as the publisher of The Bilingual Review/La revista bilingüe, a new academic and literary journal with a focus on Spanish-English bilingualism, bilingual studies and Hispanic literature that was first issued in 1974. Under the imprint name Bilingual Press/Editorial Bilingüe the press also publishes and distributes book titles by or about Hispanic and Latin American authors, covering literary fiction, poetry as well as non-fiction titles relating to Chicano and Latin American studies. Bilingual Press publishes from 8 to 10 titles annually, with an accumulated back catalogue of more than 150 titles under the imprint in both English and Spanish as well as some bilingual editions. Wall Literary Journal is an annually published literary magazine founded in 2001 featuring selected works from Saddleback College students. It publishes short stories, poetry, personal narratives, photography, and artwork. A printed copy of the journal circulates on campus at the start of Saddleback's Fall Semester. Unlike many other college and university literary journals, WALL only accepts submissions from students currently enrolled at Saddleback College. Staff members consist of Saddleback College students and are responsible for reviewing and selecting student submissions, layout and design, proofing, copy editing, and publicity.
The Cider Press Review Book Award is an annual literary prize offered by the Cider Press Review. The prize recognizes outstanding poetry manuscripts. Joseph Fasano is an American poet and novelist. Fasano was raised in Goshen, New York, where he attended Goshen Central High School. He earned a BA in philosophy from Harvard University in 2005 and an MFA from Columbia University in 2008. His poem "Mahler in New York" won the 2008 RATTLE Poetry Prize. He has been a finalist for the Missouri Review Editors' Prize and the Times Literary Supplement Poetry Competition, among other honors. He has taught at SUNY Purchase, Manhattanville College, and Columbia University.
