Cinemaya (a blend of cinema and maya (illusion)) is a film magazine established in 1988 devoted exclusively to coverage of Asian film. It is published in New Delhi, India, and distributed internationally. The present editor-in-chief of Cinemaya is Aruna Vasudev, noted film journalist. [1] [2] Its goals are to promote Asian filmmaking internationally and to help Asian national cinemas gain wider international recognition.

In 1990, in collaboration with UNESCO it founded the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema, an association of film professionals based in Singapore which presents annual awards for greatest Asian achievements in filmmaking at selected film festivals around the world.

Cinefan or Cinemaya Festival of Asian Cinema, now known as Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema, began in 1999 as an outgrowth of Cinemaya, [3] and was later taken over by the Osian's Connoisseurs of Art of Neville Tuli [4]

Mani Kaul was an Indian director of Hindi films and a figure in Indian parallel cinema. He graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) where he was a student of Ritwik Ghatak and later became a teacher. Starting his career with Uski Roti (1969), which won him the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie, he went on to win four of them in all. He won the National Film Award for Best Direction in 1974 for Duvidha and later the National Film Award for his documentary film Siddheshwari in 1989.

Suddha, also called The Cleansing Rites, is an Indian film, the first-ever Tulu language film shot in the digital format. The 105-minute film was shot in 2004 in a village called Marnad near Mangalore, Karnataka, and was released in 2005. The film is an adaptation of the Tulu Sahitya Academy award-winning Tulu play called Bojja written by Mumbai-based playwright, Narayana Nandalike. Suddha was produced by three Mumbai Tuluvas Mohan Marnad, Surendra Kumar and Ramchandra PN. It was directed by Ramchandra PN, a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India, Poona. Suddha was his first feature-length film.

Gina Pareño is a Filipino actress. She is referred to as the "Queen of Philippine Melodrama", being best known for her award-winning portrayals in films like Kubrador, Serbis and Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo.

<i>Paruthiveeran</i> 2007 film by Ameer Sultan

Paruthiveeran is a 2007 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by Ameer. The film stars Karthi in his feature film debut as the title character, with Priyamani as the female lead and Ponvannan, Saravanan, Ganja Karuppu, Sampath Raj, and Sujatha Sivakumar playing supporting roles. Produced by Ameer, it features a soundtrack and score composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematograhy by Ramji and editing by Raja Mohammad. The film was remade into Bengali Bangladesh as PoraMon 2 (2018).

Osian's-Cinefan was one of Asia's leading film festivals devoted to Asian and Arab cinema, and was part of Osian's Film House Division. The festival celebrated its 10th anniversary in July 2008. After a two-year break, the 12th staging of the festival took place in July 2012. It has been discontinued since.

Neville Tuli is the Founder Chairman of the Osian’s" Group of companies. The Group includes the Parent Company, Osian’s Connoisseurs of Art Pvt. Ltd. and its two Subsidiary Companies, being "Osian’s Cinematic Pvt. Ltd." and "Osianama Learning Experience Pvt. Ltd.".
