History

Cirpack was founded in 1999 by Fred Potter [3] as a spinoff of the French Long Distance Carrier Kaptech that had in-house switching experts and senior developers. Cirpack was acquired by Thomson SA (now Technicolor) in April 2005. [4] [5]

On top of its historical Softswitch devices product line, Cirpack introduced in 2010 its SBC (Session Border Controller) range, completed in 2011 by the Applications range. [6]

In April 2014, Patrick Bergougnou took over Cirpack and became CEO. [7]

In July 2015, Cirpack took over Andrexen, a French editor of voice over IP and unified communications software. [8]

In September 2016, Cirpack took over Amplement, a professional social network. [9]

The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a signaling protocol used for initiating, maintaining, and terminating communication sessions that include voice, video and messaging applications. SIP is used in Internet telephony, in private IP telephone systems, as well as mobile phone calling over LTE (VoLTE).

The general idea behind the NGN is that one network transports all information and services by encapsulating these into IP packets, similar to those used on the Internet. NGNs are commonly built around the Internet Protocol, and therefore the term all IP is also sometimes used to describe the transformation of formerly telephone-centric networks toward NGN.

SIP trunking is a voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology and streaming media service based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) by which Internet telephony service providers (ITSPs) deliver telephone services and unified communications to customers equipped with SIP-based private branch exchange (IP-PBX) and unified communications facilities. Most unified communications applications provide voice, video, and other streaming media applications such as desktop sharing, web conferencing, and shared whiteboard.

Ingate Systems AB is a Swedish company that sells data network security and telecommunication equipment. The company primarily provides SIP Trunking of IP PBX:s on the US market. It is associated with sister company Intertex Data AB.

IMS is a set of specifications to offer multimedia services through IP protocol. This makes it possible to incorporate all kinds of services, such as voice, multimedia and data, on an accessible platform through any Internet connection.

ViLTE, an acronym for "Video over LTE", is a conversational video service based on the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core network like VoLTE. It has specific profiles for the control and VoLTE of the video service and uses LTE as the radio access medium. The service as a whole is governed by the GSM Association in PRD IR.94.
