Career

Clayrocksu fuses Igbo language and local pidgin folk elements with punk rock. [3]

Her debut single "Ogadisinma" was nominated for a Nigeria Music Video Award in the Best Alternative category. [4] Her single "Amin" won the Best Rock category at the 2022 All Africa Music Awards. [5] She won the Top Naija Music Award for the Best Record of the Year for Dancing in the Sun, featuring Vector Tha Viper.

Clay has performed at Rocktoberfest [6] and Ake Festival. [7]

On May 31th, 2024, Clay released her second EP, Hate It Here [8] . The critically acclaimed body of work earned her a 2025 Grammy consideration.

According to Clay in an interview with The British Blacklist [9] , "Hate It Here is a reflection on the harsh realities of growing up too fast and the crushing disappointment of discovering that adulthood is not the dream we earlier imagined. It’s an emotional journey through a world stamped by hatred, pain, conflict, deception, and heartbreak."

The EP captures the torture of being a Nigerian millennial, grappling with the struggles of inadequate infrastructure, continuous corrupt governance, systemic multi-dimensional poverty, religious captivity, the slow erosion of the middle class, and the sad emigration of brilliant minds from our homeland. It’s a raw expression of my inner child’s sincere plea for peace, love, and genuine humanity.

Clay is currently at the forefront of pushing the third wave of rock music in Nigeria with Afro Rockstars Collective [10] , a community of rising rock music performers.
