Cliff Branan (born June 23,1961) is a former Republican member of the Oklahoma State Senate,representing District 40 from 2002 to 2014. He previously served as Assistant Majority Floor Leader and as Majority Whip. Branan was a Republican candidate for Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner in the 2014 elections. [1]
Branan earned his B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Oklahoma in 1984. His professional experience includes working in the commercial real estate business and running Branan Property Company since 1995. [2]

Frank Dean Lucas is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Oklahoma's 3rd congressional district since 2003,having previously represented the 6th district from 1994 to 2003. He is a member of the Republican Party and serves as the ranking minority member of the House Committee on Science,Space and Technology. His district,numbered as the 6th district from 1994 to 2003,is the largest congressional district in the state and one of the largest in the nation that does not cover an entire state. It covers 34,088.49 square miles and stretches from the Panhandle to the fringes of the Tulsa suburbs,covering almost half of the state's land mass. Lucas is the dean of Oklahoma's House delegation.
The 1964 United States Senate election in Oklahoma took place on November 3,1964. Democratic Senator Robert S. Kerr,who won re-election to his third term in 1960,died in office on January 1,1963. Governor J. Howard Edmondson resigned from office so that his Lieutenant Governor,George Nigh,could appoint him to the U.S. Senate. Edmondson ran for re-election in the ensuing special election,and faced strong competition from former Governor Raymond D. Gary and State Senator Fred R. Harris. Edmondson placed first in the primary,but failed to win a majority,with Harris narrowly beating out Gary for second place. In the runoff,Harris defeated Edmondson in a landslide. In the general election,Harris faced former Oklahoma Sooners football coach Bud Wilkinson,the Republican nominee. Even though President Lyndon B. Johnson won Oklahoma by a wide margin over Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater,the Senate race was much closer. Ultimately,Harris only narrowly defeated Wilkinson by just 2% of the vote.
