Clint Essers (born 21 January 1997) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a right-back for SG Barockstadt.

Club career

Fortuna Sittard

Essers played youth football for RKHSV and RKSV Heer before joining the Fortuna Sittard youth academy in 2007. [2] He made his Eerste Divisie debut for Fortuna on 7 April 2017 in a 4–1 home win over Helmond Sport, replacing Jorrit Smeets in the 83rd minute. [3]

In the 2017–18 season, Essers became a starter for Fortuna who finished second in the league table and reached promotion to the Eredivisie. [4]

MVV

On 31 August 2021, he moved to Eerste Divisie club MVV on a one-year contract with an option for the second year. [1] He made his debut for the club on 5 September 2021, replacing Rico Zeegers in the 80th minute of a 3–0 league win over Telstar. [5] On 14 January 2022, Essers scored his first professional goal in the 91st minute of a 2–1 away loss to Telstar in the Eerste Divisie. [6] The following week, he tore the anterior cruciate ligament of his knee, sidelining him for an extended period of time. [6]

SG Barockstadt

In January 2024, after being without a club for six months, he moved to German fourth tier side SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz. [7]

Fortuna Sittard is a professional football club in Sittard, Netherlands. The club currently plays its football in the 12,500 capacity Fortuna Sittard Stadion and features in the Eredivisie. The 2011–12 Eerste Divisie, known as Jupiler League for sponsorship reasons, was the fifty-sixth season of Eerste Divisie since its establishment in 1955. It began in August 2011 with the first matches of the season and ended in June 2012 with the nacompetitie, a promotion-and-relegation tournament also involving the 16th- and 17th-placed teams from the 2011–12 Eredivisie. The competition was won by FC Zwolle on 13 April 2012, after drawing FC Eindhoven 0–0 at home in their 32nd match of the season.

The 2012–13 Eerste Divisie, known as Jupiler League for sponsorship reasons, was the fifty-seventh season of Eerste Divisie since its establishment in 1955. It began on 10 August 2012 with the first matches of the season and ended on 26 May 2013 with the returns of the finals of the promotion/relegation play-offs, also involving the 16th- and 17th-placed teams from the 2012–13 Eredivisie. On 3 May 2013, during the last round of the regular season, SC Cambuur secured the championship and the only direct promotion berth. Go Ahead Eagles won promotion to the Eredivisie in the play-offs.
