Clint Miller (born August 11, 1984) is an American musician and writer.
Miller released Ballad of a Modern Day Cowboy: a Tragedy in Three Acts through his own independent label in 2006. In the United Kingdom, music critic Del Day noted, “There are few braver and indeed industrious records than this being released these days... given that there are elements of country, blues, soul, jazz and bluegrass here and that Miller plays no less than fourteen instruments overall.” [1] American historian, reporter, and music critic Joe Tennis described Miller’s vocal work as “a perfect vehicle for these 21 tales of woe on the road.” [2] In the Netherlands, music critic Wim Bolujt wrote, “Hoe origineel en goed gespeeld ook…” (“How original and well played too…”). [3] Appalachian music critic Mike Clark wrote, “He’s one heck of a musician as well, playing almost every instrument heard on Ballad of a Modern Day Cowboy… Miller is one of those once-in-a-lifetime writer/performers.” [4]
After releasing the album, Miller was accepted into Harvard College, and in 2009 he was honored with an Artist Development Fellowship awarded by the Office of the Arts. [5] With equipment he acquired through this Fellowship, Miller explored new avenues for music production and also began creating customized monaural and binaural beats.
Miller worked to popularize blues, ragtime, and bluegrass at Harvard, spreading awareness through festivals like Arts First [6] and Cultural Rhythms [7] while also being selected to speak and perform at the Harvard Bluegrass Symposium. [8] [9] Scott Lozier, at the Harvard Arts Blog, wrote "I think they should start casting the Grammy statues for Clint. What a musician." [10]
Miller’s first publication was a book of philosophy in verse, The Book of Change, which was released by Cambridge Scholars Publishing in the United Kingdom in 2007. [11]
Miller’s first play, Fate as It Relates to Cats and God, was staged at the famous Barter Theatre during the Young Playwrights Festival in 2002. Miller's next play, Our Diamond, went on to be performed all across America. It was published by Baker's Plays in 2009 and is now published by Samuel French. His most recent play, An Experiment, was staged at the Harvard Playwrights Festival in 2011. Miller's plays introduce new techniques for breaking the fourth wall to engage audiences unprecedented ways. [12] [13] [14] [15]
Miller was invited to Zhengzhou University in 2012 by Dr. Li Ying, and he began to design and conduct original experiments in the Psychology Department. He and his new team of post grad assistants explored collective intelligence and group wisdom. A portion of the experiments used monaural and binaural beats to manipulate the perception of time for targeted groups of people, leading Miller to joke that he "invented time travel in China." [16]

Old Crow Medicine Show is an Americana string band based in Nashville, Tennessee, that has been recording since 1998. They were inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on September 17, 2013. Their ninth album, Remedy, released in 2014, won the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album. The group's music has been called old-time, folk, and alternative country. Along with original songs, the band performs many pre-World War II blues and folk songs.
"Banks of the Ohio", also known as "Down on the Banks of the Ohio" and "I'll Never Be Yours", is a 19th-century murder ballad, written by unknown authors. The lyrics tell of "Willie" who invites his young lover for a walk during which she rejects his marriage proposal, and once they are alone on the river bank, he murders the young woman.
Delano Floyd McCoury is an American bluegrass musician. As leader of the Del McCoury Band, he plays guitar and sings lead vocals along with his two sons, Ronnie McCoury and Rob McCoury, who play mandolin and banjo respectively. In June 2010, he received a National Heritage Fellowship lifetime achievement award from the National Endowment for the Arts and in 2011 he was elected into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.

The Greencards are an American progressive bluegrass band that formed in 2003 in Austin, Texas, and relocated in 2005 to Nashville, Tennessee. The band was founded by Englishman Eamon McLoughlin and Australians Kym Warner and Carol Young. The musicians originally performed in local Austin bars, and soon found increasing acclaim. They have released one independent album, Movin' On, in 2003, and two albums, Weather and Water and Viridian, on the Dualtone record label. Their fourth album, Fascination, was released on Sugar Hill in 2009. Their fifth album, The Brick Album (2011), was self-produced with the direct support of their fans. Blind Willies is an American folk rock band based in San Francisco, California, United States. The group was founded by singer-songwriter Alexei Wajchman, while he was a student at San Francisco School of the Arts in 2002. The band began as a duo, with guitarist Wajchman and fiddler Annie Staninec, playing covers of American folk songs. They soon made the transition to Wajchman's original songs which he began writing when he was 15.
John Sturgill Simpson is an American country music singer-songwriter and actor. As of February 2022, he has released seven albums as a solo artist. His first two albums, High Top Mountain and Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, were independently released in 2013 and 2014, respectively. The latter was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Americana Album, listed 18th on Rolling Stone's "50 Best Albums of 2014," and named among "NPR's 50 Favorite Albums of 2014."
