The football rivalry between Académico do Aeroporto and Académica do Sal is the only rivalry in the island of Sal, Cape Verde. It is known as the Clássico da Ilha do Aeroporto (Airport Island Rivalry), it is also known as Clássico do Aeroporto (Airport Derby) and Derby de Académicas do Sal (Academicas Derby of Sal) It is the main rivalry of the island of Sal and is the only one. Académico do Aeroporto is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Sal Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Espargos in the island of Sal. The team was is named after its nearby airport. Its current director is Ivan Lopes since mid-February 2017, its chairman is Carlos Moniz who returned for the second time and its manager was Lúcio Antunes since 2015. Now that Verdun Pedra de Lume was relegated, the club became the island's five unrelegated original clubs.
Associação Académica do Sal is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Sal Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Espargos in the island of Sal and its location is on Palmeira Road next to the city library. It is one of many teams that only won one title since independence. Its current proprietor is Mário Ramos.
