The Sal Island Opening Tournament (Portuguese: Torneio de Abertura da Ilha do Sal, Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: Turneiu de Abertura Idja du Sal) is an opening tournament competition played during the season in the island of Sal, Cape Verde. The competition is organized by the Sal Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Sal, ARFS). [1] The competition is similar to a league cup used in other countries. The first competition began in the 2000s.

Sal is an island in Cape Verde. It belongs to the northern group of islands, called Barlavento ("windwards"), and comprises a single administrative division, the municipality of Sal. Its seat is the city of Espargos.

As the league later had two divisions, unlike other islands, the 2015 season had all of the clubs from the first and second divisions competed and extended to 11 rounds with several new clubs who started competing in official competitions. The group system was restored for the 2016-17 season and had two groups and each round, the leader of each group headed to the final and has two divisions.. The current winner is SC Santa Maria who became the fourth club to win their only title.

The island of Sal in Cape Verde in the east of the Barlavento Islands is home to several teams and clubs. The major professional club may now be Académico do Aeroporto do Sal, the remaining clubs are amateur or beginners. In 1976, Sal would have its own island championships of each sport. The football competition was the third along with Fogo to have its own first held in 1976 after the nation's independence. Since 2014, the football (soccer) was the only competition divided into two divisions.

The 2017 Sal Opening Tournament season was the competition of the Opening Tournament or the Association Cup of football in the island of Sal, Cape Verde. All of the competition took place in late 2017, the Premier Division of the cup started on October 22 and finished on November 11 and the Second Division started on November 10, then it took a three-week hiatus before resuming on December 1, it finished on December 15. The tournament was organized by the Sal Regional Football Association. SC Santa Maria won their second title for the season.
