Colin Darren Cannonier (born 22 May 1973) is an economics professor from Saint Kitts. He is also known for his sporting career,which included cricket for the Leeward Islands and club football in the Saint Kitts Premier Division.
Cannonier was born in Basseterre,and educated at Basseterre High School. [1] He made his first-class cricket debut for the Leeward Islands during the 1995–96 Busta Cup,and played a total of four times in his first season,including in his team's defeat of Trinidad and Tobago in the competition final. [2] Cannonier was awarded a scholarship to the University of the West Indies in 1996, [1] and consequently did not again appear for the Leeward Islands until the 1999–00 Red Stripe Bowl (a limited-overs competition). [3] The 2000–01 season was his last with the Leewards, [2] but in the 2002–03 Red Stripe Bowl he represented the "Rest of Leeward Islands" side that played during Antigua and Barbuda's period as a separate team. [3] Cannonier's final high-level cricket matches came at the Stanford 20/20 competition in 2006 and 2008,where he represented the Saint Kitts national team. [4] He never made the Saint Kitts national football team,but did captain his club side,Basseterre's Newtown United. [1]
After graduating from the University of the West Indies,Cannonier worked for a period as an economist and statistician with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. In 2005,he moved to the United States to study for a master's degree in development economics at Williams College,Massachusetts. He later completed a second master's degree at Louisiana State University,where he eventually gained his doctorate. Cannonier is currently an associate professor at Belmont University,Tennessee,and has published papers in the fields of international economics,health economics,and sport economics. [5]
The Super50 Cup,currently named the CG Insurance Super50 Cup for sponsorship purposes is the domestic one-day cricket competition in the West Indies. It was previously known as the KFC Cup until the fast food chain pulled out of sponsorship in 2008 and the WICB Cup until 2011. Afterwards it was known the Regional Super50 until 2014 when NAGICO Insurance became the title sponsor and it became the NAGICO Regional Super50 until 2021. In recent years it has been run in a condensed format with the group stage taking place over approximately two to three weeks,immediately followed by the knock-out stages. Trinidad and Tobago have won the most titles –12,including one shared).
The West Indies men's cricket team,nicknamed The Windies,is a men's cricket team representing the mainly English-speaking countries and territories in the Caribbean region and administered by Cricket West Indies. The players on this composite team are selected from a chain of fifteen Caribbean nation-states and territories. Carl McArthur Tuckett is a West Indian former cricketer who played one One Day International (ODI) in 1998. He represented Leeward Islands in the West Indian domestic circuit. He is a right arm medium fast bowler. In his only ODI,he had figures of 2 wickets for 41 runs from 8 overs against England at Queen's Park Oval,Port-Of-Spain,Trinidad,on 8 April 1998. In that match,he dismissed Alec Stewart and Graeme Hick.
Leonard Alphonso Harris was a West Indian cricketer who played for the Leeward Islands between 1958 and 1971. An opening batsman for much of his career,and occasional bowler in his final seasons,Harris played in West Indian first class cricket,as well as facing the MCC team,England and Australia during his career. He played 27 matches,scoring nearly 1,400 runs at 29.04,including a century,and taking 15 wickets at 19.46. He then went on to play lower-level cricket for St. Kitts until 1976,and helped create the first cricket academy in the Leeward Islands.
A cricket team representing the University of the West Indies (UWI) played several matches in West Indian domestic cricket during the early 2000s,and currently plays at lower levels.

The 2019–20 Regional Super50 was the 46th edition of the Regional Super50,the domestic limited-overs cricket competition for the countries of the Cricket West Indies (CWI). The tournament started on 6 November 2019,with the final taking place on 1 December 2019. The tournament featured the six regular teams of West Indian domestic cricket,the Combined Campuses and Colleges team and the West Indies Emerging Team. The national teams of the United States and Canada also took part. Combined Campuses and Colleges were the defending champions.
Colin Archibald is a Nevisian professional cricketer. He made his List A debut on 15 November 2019,for the Leeward Islands in the 2019–20 Regional Super50 tournament. He made his first-class debut on 9 January 2020,for the Leeward Islands in the 2019–20 West Indies Championship.
