Colin Carr (born 25 October 1957) is a British cello soloist, chamber musician, recording artist and teacher.
Born in Liverpool, Carr is professor of cello at the Royal Academy of Music. He taught at the New England Conservatory in Boston for 16 years before joining the Royal Academy's faculty. [1] He is affiliated with the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Carr has won many international awards, including First Prize in the Naumburg Competition, the Gregor Piatigorsky Memorial Award, Second Prize in the Rostropovich International Cello Competition and the Young Concert artists competition.
Carr began playing at the age of five, and studied with Maurice Gendron. He also attended the Yehudi Menuhin School. He formerly played the 'Marquis de Corberon' Stradivari cello, formerly played by Zara Nelsova and now played by Steven Isserlis, and owned by the Royal Academy of Music. He now plays a Venetian cello made by Matteo Goffriller. [2]
He is married with three children, and lives in Oxfordshire.

Daniil Olegovich Trifonov is a Russian pianist and composer. Described by The Globe and Mail as "arguably today's leading classical virtuoso" and by The Times as "without question the most astounding pianist of our age", Trifonov's honors include a Grammy Award win in 2018 and the Gramophone Classical Music Awards' Artist of the Year Award in 2016. The New York Times has noted that "few artists have burst onto the classical music scene in recent years with the incandescence" of Trifonov. Alexei Romanenko is a Russian-born cellist. Romanenko was born in Vladivostok, Russia, Romanenko began playing the cello at six-years old. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory under cello professor Valentin Feygin. In 1998, Romanenko moved to the United States where he received his Artist Diploma and continued and completed his studies with cello professors Bernard Greenhouse and Laurence Lesser at the New England Conservatory of Music.
