Laxmikant–Pyarelal were an Indian composer duo, consisting of Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar (1937–1998) and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma . They composed music for about 750 Hindi movies from 1963 to 1998, working for almost all notable filmmakers, including Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Shakti Samanta, Manmohan Desai, Yash Chopra, K. Balanchander, Boney Kapoor, J. Om Prakash, Raj Khosla, L V Prasad, Subhash Ghai, Mahesh Bhatt, K Viswanath and Manoj Kumar.
Bappi Aparesh Lahiri, also known as Bappida was an Indian singer, composer and record producer. He popularised the use of synthesised disco music in Indian music industry and sang some of his own compositions. He was popular in the 1980s and 1990s with filmi soundtracks. He also delivered major box office successes in Bengali, Telugu, and Kannada films. His music was well received into the 21st century.

Kalaakaar (transl. Artist) is a 1983 Indian Hindi-language tragedy romantic musical film directed by P. Sambasiva Rao and produced by P. Anand Rao. The film stars Sridevi and Kunal Goswami. It was released in the same year as Himmatwala, Sridevi's breakthrough film in Bollywood, but unlike the former, Kalaakaar was a box office disappointment. It is a remake of the 1982 Tamil Film Payanangal Mudivathillai.

The film is shot simultaneously along with the Telugu film Simhasanam (1986); both the films were made by the same banner and director and some of the scenes and artists are the same in both versions. The film had also featured South Indian actress Radha in her second and final Hindi film to date. She'd reprised her role even in the Telugu version too, which had starred opposite Krishna Ghattamaneni.
