Armaan Malik (born 22 July 1995) is an Indian playback singer, songwriter, voice actor, and actor. Malik made his debut in 2007 as a child singer in Bollywood with the song "Bum Bum Bole" featured in the movie Taare Zameen Par . His first on-screen appearance was in the film Kaccha Limboo in 2011. [1] Previously represented by Universal Music India and T-Series, he is currently signed with Arista Records.. [2] [3]
Armaan Malik was born in Mumbai to Daboo Malik and Jyoti Malik. He attended the Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai, India. [4] His older brother, Amaal Malik, is also a musician. [5]
Malik competed on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs in 2006, eventually finishing 8th. [6] Under the musical direction of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, [7] [8] Malik made his 2007 debut as a child singer with the song "Bum Bum Bole", which was featured in the movie Taare Zameen Par . Malik voiced the English boy in the 2010 film My Name Is Khan and the character Salim in the radio version of Slumdog Millionaire for BBC Radio 1. [9]
In 2014, he made his debut as a playback singer with the song "Tumko Toh Aana Hi Tha" in the film Jai Ho, along with "Love You Till The End (House Mix)" and the title track, "Jai Ho". [10] [11] Malik and his brother, Amaal Malik, were also featured in the beginning of Jai Ho in the song "Love You Till The End" (Malik was the vocalist and lyricist, and Amaal was the music composer). [12] In the same year, he sang "Naina" with Sona Mohapatra for the film Khoobsurat , [13] "Auliya" for the film Ungli , [14] and released his debut album Armaan. [15] [16]
In 2015, Malik sang "Main Hoon Hero Tera" for Hero , "Kwahishein" for Calendar Girls , and "Tumhe Aapna Banane Ka" for Hate Story 3 , which his brother Amaal Malik composed. [17] He also sang another song for Hate Story 3 titled "Wajah Tum Ho". He sang "Yaar Indha Muyalkutti" and a single titled "Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon". That year, he was awarded the Filmfare R. D. Burman Award for New Music Talent. [18]
In 2016, Malik sang in the films Mastizaade , [19] Sanam Re , [20] Kapoor & Sons , [21] Azhar , [22] Do Lafzon Ki Kahani, [23] and "Sab Tera" [24] with Shraddha Kapoor for Baaghi under Amaal's composition. He sang "Foolishq" with Shreya Ghoshal for Ki & Ka , he worked with Jeet Gannguli for the song "Mujhko Barsaat Bana Lo" for Junooniyat and also sang his first Bengali song, "Dhitang Dhitang" for Love Express . He was the lead singer of the film M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story . He sang "Sau Asmaan" [25] with Neeti Mohan for Baar Baar Dekho and "Ishaara" [26] for Force 2 under Amaal's composition.[ citation needed ] He sang "Tum Jo Mille" for Saansein , "Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas Reprise" and "Dil Mein Chupa Lunga Remake" for Wajah Tum Ho . He sang a single "Pyaar Manga Hain Remake" with Neeti Mohan. He also sang the title track of the Star Paarivar Awards 2016 with Palak Muchhal and Meet Bros under Meet Bros' composition. [27]
In 2019, he voiced the following songs: "Jab Se Mera Dil" with Palak Muchhal for the movie Amavas , "Dil Me Ho Tum" for the movie Why Cheat India, and "Kyun Rabba" for the movie Badla .[ citation needed ] He also sang "Chale Aana" in De De Pyaar De , composed by Amaal and written by Kunaal Verma. Malik voiced the main character in the Hindi-dubbed version of Disney's Aladdin, a live-action remake of the 1992 movie, Aladdin. [28]
Malik sang for the film Kabir Singh , under the composer Vishal Mishra, for the song "Pehla Pyaar". In the same year, he sang two songs for Yeh Saali Aashiqui , one for films like Article 15, Pranaam, Pati Patni Aur Woh and the Hindi soundtrack of Pailwaan .[ citation needed ]
Malik signed with Arista Records on 12 March 2020, under which he released his first English-language single, "Control" on 20 March 2020. [28] "Control" won the Best Indian Act award at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards. [29] [30]
In 2020, Malik became the first Indian artist to appear at No.1 on the Triller Global Billboard charts twice. [31] Just a few weeks later, he released his second English single, "How Many". [32] In 2020, he sang one song for the Hindi soundtrack of Darbar , Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl [33] and Khuda Haafiz [34] . In 2021, he lent his voice for one track of Saina , Koi Jaane Na , 99 Songs , Bell Bottom , [35] Thalaivii, Bhoot Police [36] and Velle.
He was featured on the A. R. Rahman single "Meri Pukaar Suno", released in June 2021, along with an ensemble that included K.S. Chithra, Sadhana Sargam, Shreya Ghoshal, Asees Kaur, Shaasha Tirupati and Alka Yagnik. [37] In September 2021, Malik teamed up with Daboo Malik, Amaal Mallik and Kunaal Vermaa for his new single "Barsaat". [38]
In 2022, Malik collaborated with Arista Records for another English single "You", for which he won the Best India Act at the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards. [39] [40] He lent his voice for films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 , Major, and Ardh . He released his Hindi single "Nakhrey Nakhrey" and "Rehna Tere Paas". [41] He was also featured on a remix of the Ed Sheeran song 2step (song), which was released on 7 June 2022. [42]
In 2025, Malik played a dubbing role in A Minecraft Movie, providing the voice for character Henry in the Hindi dub.
On 28 August 2023, Malik announced his engagement to longtime partner, Aashna Shroff. On 2 January 2025, Armaan and Aashna were married in Mahabaleshwar. [43] [44] [45]
