Collin Duel is an American politician who has served as the Oklahoma House of Representatives member from the 31st district since November 16, 2022.

Early life and education

Collin Duel was born and raised in Guthrie, [1] Oklahoma where he attended Guthrie High School. [2] After his military career, he earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma in International Security Studies and his juris doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Career

Military career

Duel enlisted in the United States Army at age 19. [4] He was an Army Ranger and served four deployments in the War in Afghanistan and was honorably discharged in 2013. [3] During his service he was awarded two Army Commendation medals and he was discharged at the rank of sergeant. [4]

He graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2019 and started his own practice, Duel Law. [3]

Oklahoma House of Representatives

Duel officially launched his campaign for the Oklahoma House of Representatives 31st district in August 2021. [4] Two other candidates, Logan Trainer and Karmin Grider, also launched campaigns in the district to succeed retiring incumbent Garry Mize. [5] He advanced to a runoff with Grider. [6] He was supported by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau in both primary elections [7] and endorsed by Governor Kevin Stitt in the Republican runoff election. [6] Duel defeated Grider in the runoff and won the seat since no non-Republican candidate filed for the district. [8] He was sworn in November 16, 2022. [9]

Personal life

He is married to his wife Hannah. [3] They have two children together. [9] He is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association of America. [3] He and his family attends Life Church. [4]

He is also the second Cherokee Nation citizen elected to the Senate; the first, Robert Latham Owen, retired in 1925. Before being elected to the Senate, Mullin served as the U.S. representative for Oklahoma's 2nd congressional district from 2013 to 2023.

A member of the Republican Party, he was elected in 2018, defeating Democrat and former state Attorney General Drew Edmondson with 54.3% of the vote. Stitt was reelected to a second term in 2022, defeating Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister, a Republican turned Democrat, with 55.4% of the vote. A member of the Cherokee Nation, Stitt is the second Native American governor after former Oklahoma governor Johnston Murray.

Terry O'Donnell is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party who has served as the Oklahoma House Representative for the 23rd district since January 8, 2013. He first won elected office in the 2012 Oklahoma state elections. In January 2021, O'Donnell was promoted to be the speaker pro tempore of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, the second highest ranking Republican Party of Oklahoma member in the state house. On December 17, 2021, O'Donnell was indicted in relation to a tag agency corruption scandal. He resigned as speaker pro tempore on February 2, 2022 but later rejoined House Republican leadership in 2023 as majority whip, "a position that involves coordinating the teams of legislators that whip vote counts ahead of key bills."

Monroe Nichols IV is an American politician and former college football player who has served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from the 72nd district since 2016. He is the first African-American to represent the district. In July 2023, he announced he would not seek re-election to the Oklahoma House in order to run in the 2024 Tulsa mayoral election.
