Coyoacán is a borough in Mexico City. The former village is now the borough's "historic center". The name comes from Nahuatl and most likely means "place of coyotes", when the Aztecs named a pre-Hispanic village on the southern shore of Lake Texcoco dominated by the Tepanec people. Against Aztec domination, these people allied with the Spanish, who used the area as a headquarters during the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire and made it the first capital of New Spain between 1521 and 1523.
Los Feliz is a hillside neighborhood in the greater Hollywood area of Los Angeles, California, abutting Hollywood and encompassing part of the Santa Monica Mountains. The neighborhood is named after the Feliz family of Californios who had owned the area since 1795, when José Vicente Féliz was granted Rancho Los Feliz.

Colonial Village is an area in northwest Washington, D.C., built in 1931 with 80 residences. The homes are reproductions of colonial buildings, such as the Moore House, where General Charles Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown. The community was mostly Protestant, in contrast to the nearby 220-house North Portal Estates, which was a mostly Jewish neighborhood. When the community was first constructed in 1931, the neighborhood was exclusively populated by white Protestants as black and Jewish people were prohibited from living in Colonial Village. The land on which Colonial Village lies on, was once the 145 acre plantation of slaveowner Phillip Fenwick. After the mid-20th century, both Colonial Village and North Portal Estates became part of Shepherd Park.
West Village is a neighborhood located in Detroit, Michigan, bounded by Jefferson, Kercheval, Parker, and Seyburn Avenues. Adjacent to the west is the Islandview neighborhood, and adjacent to the east is Indian Village. The district received its name in the mid-20th century because of its location just west of the more well-known Indian Village Historic District. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
