The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), commonly known as the Rocky Mountain Conference (RMC) from approximately 1910 through the late 1960s, is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level, which operates in the western United States. Most member schools are in Colorado, with additional members in Nebraska, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Utah.
The Colorado Buffaloes are the athletic teams that represent the University of Colorado Boulder. The university sponsors 16 varsity sports teams. Both the men's and women's teams are called the Buffaloes or, rarely, the Golden Buffaloes. "Lady Buffs" referred to the women's teams beginning in the 1970s, but was officially dropped in 1993. The nickname was selected by the campus newspaper in a contest with a $5 prize in 1934 won by Andrew Dickson of Boulder.
Alumni Field, officially Alumni Field at Marv Kay Stadium, is an American college football stadium located in Golden, Colorado. The stadium serves as the home field of the Colorado Mines Orediggers football team representing the Colorado School of Mines. Alumni Field is one of the oldest football fields in existence, the oldest west of the Mississippi River and the oldest in NCAA Division II. Originally it was a dirt surface all-purpose athletic field in exactly its current configuration, built within a clay pit, a fitting mined-out home for the Orediggers. Its first athletic contest, held on May 20, 1893, was the first annual Colorado Inter-Collegiate Athletic Association Field Day, featuring many athletic contests between the University of Colorado, Colorado A&M, Colorado School of Mines, and the University of Denver, in which Mines claimed the most medals. Its first football game took place on October 7, 1893, a 6-0 Mines victory over the University of Denver. It has been home to the football Orediggers through all but the first five seasons of their existence, and has been renovated several times throughout its existence. The field was originally called Athletic Park, renamed Brooks Field after Mines trustee and benefactor Ralph D. Brooks in 1922. It was renamed Campbell Field after 1939 undefeated team member and benefactor Harry D. Campbell in 2010, and finally named Alumni Field in 2022. Alumni Field is the oldest football field in the west, the oldest in NCAA Division II football and the 5th oldest college football field in the nation.
The Grand Valley State Lakers are the intercollegiate athletic teams of Grand Valley State University, located in Allendale, Michigan, United States. The GVSU Lakers compete at the NCAA Division II level and are members of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
The Emporia State Hornets are the athletic teams that represent Emporia State University (ESU). The women's basketball and softball teams use the name Lady Hornets. The university's athletic program fields 15 varsity teams in 11 sports all of whom have combined to win 50 conference championships as well as three national championships. Corky the Hornet serves as the mascot representing the teams, and the school colors are black and gold. Emporia State participates in the NCAA Division II and has been a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) since 1991.
The Colorado School of Mines Orediggers football team represents the Colorado School of Mines in the sport of American football. Pete Sterbick has been the head coach since 2023, succeeding Brandon Moore after the latter left to coach for the University of San Diego. The football team has played in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference since 1909. They have won 23 conference titles, with 10 of them occurring prior to joining the RMAC. They have won 16 conference titles in the RMAC. They have made the NCAA Tournament five times in this century. As of October 21 of the 2023 season, the Orediggers have an all-time record of 515–557–30.
The Fort Lewis Skyhawks are the athletic teams that represent Fort Lewis College, located in Durango, Colorado, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Skyhawks compete as members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for all 11 varsity sports. The college's teams were previously known as the Beavers, Aggies, and Raiders.
The Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks are the 12 varsity athletic teams that represent California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt, located in Arcata, California, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. Pete Sterbick is an American college football coach and former player. He is the head football coach for the Colorado School of Mines, a position he has held since 2023. Sterbick served as the head football coach at McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas from 2012 to 2013.

The 2023 Colorado Mines Orediggers football team was an American football team that represented the Colorado School of Mines in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) during the 2023 NCAA Division II football season. In their first year under head coach Pete Sterbick, the team compiled a 14–1 record, outscored opponents by a total of 656 to 150, and won the RMAC championship. The team was led on offense by quarterback John Matocha who broke the NCAA record for career touchdowns, won the 2022 Harlon Hill Trophy and was a finalist for the award again in 2023.
