The Japan national rugby league team, nicknamed the Samurais, represents Japan in rugby league football. Japan have played some international competition since 1994. Paul Broadbent, also known by the nickname "Beans", is an English former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s, and has coached in the 2000s, 2010s and 2020s. He played at representative level for Great Britain and England, and at club level for Sheffield Eagles, Halifax, Hull FC, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats (captain), and York City Knights, as a prop, and coached at club level for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

George Nicholls is an English former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. A Great Britain and England international representative forward, he played his club rugby for English sides Widnes and St. Helens. Eventually becoming a St Helens R.F.C. Hall of Fame inductee, he also became the first player to win the Man of Steel Award, Harry Sunderland Trophy and Lance Todd Trophy with the club. With Great Britain, Nicholls also won the 1972 Rugby League World Cup.

The 1911 South Sydney Rabbitohs season was the 4th in the club's history. The club competed in the New South Wales Rugby Football League Premiership (NSWRFL), finishing the season 3rd. The top two teams were to play each other for the grand final, however South Sydney and Eastern Suburbs both finished second on the ladder with 20 points. An addition playoff game was put in place to decide who would play Glebe in the final. Souths lost 23–10.
The 1932 South Sydney Rabbitohs season was the 25th in the club's history. The club competed in the New South Wales Rugby Football League Premiership (NSWRFL), finishing the season as premiers and minor premiers. Initially, South Sydney lost the final to Western Suburbs, however rules at the time allowed the minor premiers the right of rematch. Souths defeated Wests, and thus were the season's premiers. Following Round 1's loss to Wests, South Sydney would win the rest of the next 13 games consecutively.
The 1937 South Sydney season was the 30th in the club's history. The club competed in the New South Wales Rugby Football League Premiership (NSWRFL), finishing the season 2nd.
