The Columbia Agriculture Park is a public park in Columbia, Missouri, focusing on food production and distribution. [1] It is home to the Columbia Farmers Market, and contains a pavilion with space for 98 vendors. [2] [3] The park opened in 2019 and by 2021 will include an interactive urban farm, demonstration gardens and orchards, a commercial kitchen, event space, a recreational trail, amphitheater, outdoor classroom, and playground. [4] [5] [6] It will also house the offices of the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture and a resource center. [7] [8] The park was created by a public-private partnership between Columbia Parks and Recreation, the Columbia Farmers Market, the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture, and Sustainable Farms and Communities. [9] [10] It is the first of its kind in Missouri. [11]

The site has a long agricultural history, for most of the 20th century it was the location of the Boone County Fair. [12] Ground was broken in 2017 and the park opened in July 2019. [13] [14] [15] [16]

Melvin Eugene Carnahan was an American lawyer and politician who served as the 51st Governor of Missouri from 1993 until his death in 2000. A Democrat, he held various positions, including stints as a state Representative, where he rose to the position of majority leader, as State Treasurer and as Lieutenant Governor. He was elected Governor of Missouri in 1992 and re-elected in 1996. In 2000, he ran for the U.S. Senate against incumbent John Ashcroft in a hotly contested race. During the final weeks of the campaign, Carnahan was killed in a plane crash on his way to a campaign event. However, he was elected posthumously to the U.S. Senate, and his widow, Jean, served in his stead until a special election was held in 2002.

University of Missouri Health Care is an American academic health system located in Columbia, Missouri. It's owned by the University of Missouri System. University of Missouri Health System includes five hospitals: University Hospital, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, Missouri Orthopedic Institute and University of Missouri Women's and Children's Hospital — all of which are located in Columbia. It's affiliated with Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. It also includes more than 60 primary and specialty-care clinics and the University Physicians medical group.

The School of Music is an academic division of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Its focus is the study of music, awarding baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degrees as part of the College of Arts and Science. The institution's programs encompass composition, performance, conducting, music education, music history, musical theatre and musicology. Established in 1917 as the Department of Music, the school continues to play a prominent role in the cultural life of Missouri and is located in the Sinquefield Music Center, on the university's flagship campus in Downtown Columbia. The Fine Arts Building also houses classrooms, studios, and a recital hall. Its major performance venues are Jesse Hall, the Missouri Theatre, and Whitmore Recital Hall. The Missouri Tigers marching band, Marching Mizzou, performs at Faurot Field for Southeastern Conference football games. The school's ensembles have performed worldwide and can be heard weekly on the university's own KMUC 90.5 FM Classical, Mid-Missouri's classical music radio station. Alumni include singers Sheryl Crow and Neal Boyd, Canadian Brass founder Gene Watts, and jazz artist Mike Metheny.

The North Village Arts District is a neighborhood and arts district in Columbia, Missouri. It is located on the northeast side of Downtown Columbia, and is the city's main art gallery district and center for the visual arts. The neighborhood is also home to restaurants, bars, food trucks, housewares shops, theaters, and a distillery. Rose Music Hall, a popular music venue, is located on Park Avenue. There are several dance studios, including the Missouri Contemporary Ballet. The district hosts a monthly art crawl called "First Fridays".

Three Creeks Conservation Area is a nature preserve in Boone County, Missouri. Its Ozark terrain has many karst features including caves, springs, and sinkholes. It is located south of Columbia, Missouri and the more well-known Rock Bridge Memorial State Park. The conservation area is named after the three streams which flow through it: Turkey Creek, Bass Creek, and Bonne Femme Creek. Its nearly 1500 acres are mostly forested and managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. There are numerous trails for hiking.

The College of Human Environmental Sciences was a school of environmental science, and one of the major academic divisions of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. It awarded undergraduate and graduate degrees and was the only human environmental science college in Missouri.
