Columbia is a city in and the county seat of Maury County, Tennessee. The population was 41,690 as of the 2020 United States census. Columbia is included in the Nashville metropolitan area.

The Aggies play home games at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. The team was the 2024 runner-up in the Men's College World Series Final, losing in a closely contested three-game series to Tennessee.
The Jacobs Blocking Trophy is the name of several similar annual college football awards bestowed by a conference upon their best blocker. The awards are named in honor of William P. Jacobs, son of the founder and president of Presbyterian College from 1935 to 1945. The trophies are awarded by his son, Hugh, and great-grandson, William P. Jacobs V, based upon voting of the respective leagues' coaches. The award was originally presented to a player from the state of South Carolina from 1928 to 1932. A duplicate award was created and given to a player in the Southern Conference (SoCon) beginning in 1933. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) began the award in 1935. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) established its own version of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy in its first year of existence in 1953. The Division II South Atlantic Conference also bestows a version of the award.

Shaquille Green Thompson is an American professional football linebacker for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Washington Huskies, earning first-team All-American honors in 2014. He also had a short stint playing baseball with the Boston Red Sox organization as part of their rookie team in the Gulf Coast League. Since being drafted he has played a hybrid safety and linebacker position for the Panthers, also known as "the Big Nickel".
Dimeco Childress is an American former basketball player. He is known for his collegiate career at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) between 1998–99 and 2001–02. During his four years as a Buccaneer he scored 1,287 points and twice led the team in scoring. As a senior in 2001–02 he led the team 17.5 points per game and 75 total assists. On February 16, 2002 Childress scored a career-high 42 points, good enough for the third-highest single game output in ETSU history. That season, the Buccaneers went 11–5 in Southern Conference (SoCon) play, tying them for first place in the North Division. The SoCon coaches selected Childress as their player of the year; due to the conference's media choosing VMI's Jason Conley as their player of the year, the two players shared the award in 2001–02.
