The London Correctional Institution (LoCI) is located in Union Township, Madison County, just west of London, Ohio, 27 miles (43 km) southwest of Columbus. It was originally known as the London Prison Farm. The original construction was the use of human waste to make bricks. From 1913 to 1925 it was a branch of the Ohio Penitentiary in Columbus. On April 17, 2012 a SCI-Pine Grove van crashed near Hollidaysburg, PA while carrying 10 inmates and 2 correctional officers. No inmates escaped and several were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
