The Standing Committee of Supply [lower-alpha 1] (Swedish : Statsutskottet, StU, SU) was a parliamentary committee in the Swedish Riksdag from 1809 to 1970. It was the central committee of the Riksdag for state expenditures and was responsible for issuing reports on the Swedish government's budget proposal; some appropriations issues were handled by the Committee on Banking and Currency (Bankoutskottet) and Committee on Agriculture after 1909.
The Committee of Supply had unrestricted access to all the accounts and documents of the state administration in order to examine, investigate, and report on the financial condition, management, and needs of the state and national debt administration, with certain exceptions. They often consulted with or formed part of the composition of other committees. The Committee of Supply was also responsible for ensuring that disbursements of public funds were made correctly. Otherwise, the committee would make a report to the chambers against the relevant government official. [2]
The Committee of Supply was one of the standing committees of the Swedish Riksdag and consisted, according to the Swedish Parliament Act of 1810, of 36 members, 9 from each estate. When two estates stood against two in decisions regarding state regulation and national debt issues, the committee was reinforced with 21 members from each estate, making it composed of 120 members. This so-called reinforced Committee of Supply then had the right to decide on the aforementioned issues with the authority of the Riksdag. [3] In 1948, the committee's members were expanded from 24 to 30 members. [4] In 1969, the committee consisted of 30 members, divided into five departments with six members each. [5] According to § 39 of the Riksdag Act (Riksdagsordningen), the Committee of Supply was to receive the government budget proposal and have access to all government accounts and documents. [6]
The Committee of Supply's powers as the expenditure committee underwent several changes. In 1909, matters concerning the Swedish National Debt Office were transferred to the Committee on Banking and Currency (Bankoutskottet), and the preparation of the respective State Pension System (Pensionsstaten) and the General Retirement Fund (Allmänna indragningsstaten), as well as the main budget heading (huvudtitel) related to agriculture, were transferred to the Committee on Banking and Currency and the Committee on Agriculture. In 1933, the withdrawal accounts were returned to the Committee of Supply, but at the same time, it was relieved of the responsibility for parliamentary and auditing costs as well as the expenses for the Parliament's buildings and facilities, which were instead placed under the Committee on Banking and Currency. The establishment of emergency budgets in 1941 exempted it from the obligation to propose the two credits that would replace them, but as these budgets, like most regular expenditure budgets, fell under the purview of the Committee of Supply, its workload increased. In 1949, the State Pension System was returned to the Committee of Supply. Still, it remained the foremost expenditure committee of the Riksdag, tasked with examining and investigating the state administration's condition and management and proposing what was necessary to meet its needs, with the exceptions mentioned. The Riksdag Act originally mentioned nothing about the Committee of Supply's jurisdiction over income matters, except that it should specify the amount to be allocated through appropriations. As a result, the Committee of Supply also conducted a calculation of the ordinary revenues, which was explicitly legalized in 1933. To a large extent, it has also, without any provision therefor, been able to express itself on the grounds for regular incomes. There was a committee for financial matters in general and it prepared the proposal for the national budget. [6]
The Committee of Supply ultimately undertook to ensure whether the disbursements of state funds had been in accordance with the national budget, based on the orders issued by the king with proper countersignature and supported by appropriate receipts. In this audit of fund management, the Committee of Supply was guided by the report of the Committee of Public Accounts (Riksdagens revisorer), which had been handed over to it. The Committee of Supply worked in five departments, among which the various main budget headings were divided. [6]
The Governor of Stockholm was the head of the Office of the Governor of Stockholm, and as such he was the highest Swedish State official overseeing the affairs in the City of Stockholm between 1634 and 1967. The Governor was the equivalent in Stockholm of a county governor elsewhere in Sweden.

The Royal Swedish Naval Staff College was a Swedish Navy training establishment between 1898 and 1961, providing courses for naval officers. It was the home of the Swedish Navy's staff college, which provided advanced training for officers. It was located within the Stockholm garrison in Stockholm, Sweden.
Artillery Staff in the Swedish Army consisted of commanding officers from the artillery units and had the task of assisting the Master-General of the Ordnance and the Inspector of Artillery in all his activities related questions. It was active between 1807 and 1937.

Ministry for Naval Affairs, established in 1840, was at the time one of the eight ministries, in which the Swedish government administration was divided into. The Ministry for Naval Affairs was established in connection with the ministry reform in 1840. Land defence and naval defence affairs, which had previously been dealt with in the War Office (Krigsexpeditionen), was now divided into two different ministries. The two ministries was in 1920 merge into the newly established Ministry of Defence.
Ministry of Land Defence was in a broad sense, one of the eight ministries, in which the Swedish government administration was divided into. Its head was called Minister of War. The Ministry of Land Defence Department was established on 16 May 1840 and was merged with the Ministry for Naval Affairs into the newly established Ministry of Defence on 30 June 1920.
Karlskrona Artillery Corps was a coastal artillery unit of the Swedish Navy which operated between 1893 and 1902. The unit was based in Karlskrona in Blekinge.
The Coastal Fleet was until 1994 a Swedish Navy authority with the main task of training the naval ships commanders and crews. After the formation of the authority Swedish Armed Forces in 1994, the Coastal Fleet remained as a unit until 2000.
The Master-General of the Ordnance was the title of a senior military official who was an artillery general and at times head of the Royal Swedish Army Materiel Administration's Artillery Department and artillery inspector. The Master-General of the Ordnance held a pivotal role from the 17th to the late 19th century, overseeing artillery administration, procurement, and maintenance. Originally known as the Riksfälttygsmästare, this position evolved to manage the Artillery Office and later the Ordnance Department of the Royal Swedish Army Materiel Administration. Until 1898, the Master-General also supervised the Swedish Artillery, but organizational changes then placed artillery units under division chiefs, while the Master-General retained authority over key artillery functions. Responsibilities included inspecting artillery exercises and overseeing weapon development, production, and equipment maintenance. The role was eventually split into separate appointments in 1937, with the Master-General heading the Swedish Army Ordnance Corps until its dissolution in 1968.
The Swedish Army Veterinary Corps was an administrative corps for veterinarians of the Swedish Army from 1887 to 1969. Its task was, in peace as well as in war, to provide army units etcetera with especially trained staff for veterinary positions in the army.
Underlöjtnant was the lowest officer rank in the Swedish Army from 1835 to 1937 instead of the previous ranks of fänrik and cornet. Fänrik was reintroduced in 1914 with the same position as underlöjtnant, from 1926 with lower position.
Master of the Horse was a court clerk, who held one of the foremost rankings of the Royal Court of Sweden. He had the highest oversight of the Royal Stables, but this was governed by the First Crown Equerry, and he was for a time head of the state stud farm service in Sweden, thereby succeeding the former Riksstallmästaren in some of his duties.
General Gustaf Fredrik Oskar Uggla was a senior Swedish Army officer. Uggla had a distinguished military career in Sweden during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Commissioned in 1863, he rose through the ranks, serving in various capacities, including as a teacher at the Royal Military Academy and as a military attaché in Vienna. Uggla's career highlights include commanding the Royal Military Academy and later the 2nd Army Division. He retired as a general in 1913 but continued contributing to military committees.
Lieutenant General Herman Georg Waldemar Wrangel was a senior officer in the Swedish Coastal Artillery. He served as commanding officer of the Swedish Coastal Artillery for 15 years (1909–1924). Wrangel served as secretary, member and chairman of a number of committees and commissions. Wrangel was also a member of the Upper House of the Riksdag and a member of the Committee on Defence as well as of the Committee of Supply.
Flag captain was in the Swedish Navy a captain or commander who served as deputy to a fleet commander. During the 1900s, the flag captain served as chief of staff of Flaggen, the staff of the Chief of the Coastal Fleet.
The Ministry of Supply was a ministry in Sweden established in 1939. The ministry was established in order to provide a better overview of the crisis measures that the Second World War caused. The ministry dealt with administrative matters relating to general guidelines for government activities to ensure the supply within Sweden of necessities that were important to the population or production. The ministry was headed by the minister of supply. The ministry ceased to exist in 1950.
