Georges-Henri Denys Arcand is a French Canadian film director, screenwriter and producer. His film The Barbarian Invasions won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 2004. His films have also been nominated three further times, including two nominations in the same category for The Decline of the American Empire in 1986 and Jesus of Montreal in 1989, becoming the only French-Canadian director in history whose films have received this number of nominations and, subsequently, to have a film win the award. Also for The Barbarian Invasions, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay, losing to Sofia Coppola for Lost in Translation.

Pat Proft is an American comedy writer, actor, and director. Born in Minnesota in 1947, Proft began his career at Dudley Riggs' Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis in the mid 1960s. He went on to perform as a one-man comedy act in the late 1960s. In 1972, Proft began working at The Comedy Store in Hollywood which led to work in television and film writing for the Smothers Brothers and Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker.

Paul Ahmarani is a Canadian actor. Both his parents have a teaching background; one is from Cacouna, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Quebec and the other from the Mediterranean coast. Ahmarani is known for his roles in the movies The Left-Hand Side of the Fridge and How My Mother Gave Birth to Me During Menopause. He has also appeared in the first season of the television Star Trek parody Dans une galaxie près de chez vous. In 2005 he released a musical album called "Portrait vivant" under the name "Paul Ahmarani et les nouveaux mariés". Outside his acting and singing career, Paul Ahmarani has also been an open supporter of Quebec's left-wing party, Québec solidaire. On 25 February 2010, Paul Ahmarani, together with 500 artists, joined the call to support the international campaign for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions against the Israeli Apartheid. In 2012, audiences saw him in Martin Villeneuve's Mars et Avril, a science fiction film based on the graphic novels of the same name.
Kazuhiro Sano is a Japanese film director, screenwriter and actor best known for his pink films of the 1990s. Along with fellow directors, Takahisa Zeze, Toshiki Satō and Hisayasu Sato, he is known as one of the "Four Heavenly Kings of Pink". Sano's films differ from those of other Pink film directors of the time in that, while not necessarily optimistic or upbeat, they are more concerned with relationships and romance than violence and sadism. He has the distinction of winning the Best Director prize three consecutive years at the Pink Grand Prix. He has also been given two Best Actor awards, two Best Actor second place awards, and a Best Screenplay award at this ceremony.
