The Youghiogheny River, or the Yough for short, is a 134-mile-long (216 km) tributary of the Monongahela River in the U.S. states of West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. It drains an area on the west side of the Allegheny Mountains northward into Pennsylvania, providing a small watershed in extreme western Maryland into the tributaries of the Mississippi River. Youghiogheny is a Lenape word meaning "a stream flowing in a contrary direction".
The Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad is a shortline railroad that operates in southwestern Pennsylvania. The SWP uses rail branches that were acquired from CSX Transportation and Conrail. All of the track used by the SWP is in either Fayette or Westmoreland counties. DWU is a non-profit City of Dallas department that provides services to the city and 31 nearby communities, employs approximately 1450 people, and consists of 26 programs. The South Connellsville Borough Municipal Authority was created in the 1940s to oversee the construction of the Sewage Disposal Plant and the sewerage lines that fed into that plant along the Youghiogheny River in South Connellsville. The treatment plant was completed in 1951. In 1990, in accordance with the Department of Environmental Protection mandate, the disposal plant was razed and a pump interconnecting station to the Connellsville Municipal Authority lines were made. presently, the SCBMA oversees maintenance and tap-ins of existing locations within South Connellsville Borough.

The authority serves over 25,000 customers in seven municipalities and also provides wholesale water to other water authorities in Bucks and Montgomery counties. The NWWA was established by the borough of North Wales in 1951 and has expanded its service area since then.
The San José–Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility is a wastewater treatment plant located in the Alviso neighborhood of San Jose, California. The facility treats 110 million U.S. gallons of wastewater per day, with a capacity of up to 167 million U.S. gal/d (630 ML/d), making it the largest tertiary treatment plant in the western United States. It serves 1.5 million residents and over 17,000 business facilities in eight cities. The 2,600-acre (1,100 ha) site is operated by the San Jose Environmental Services Department and jointly owned by the cities of San Jose and Santa Clara. It began operations in 1956 to address severe water pollution issues and played a key role in San Jose's aggressive annexation program during the 1950s and 1960s.
