Cornell Harvey is a politician in Georgia. [1] He was the 59th Mayor of Brunswick,Georgia,serving from 2014 to early 2022, [2] and was the first African-American to hold the position. [3] Harvey is a member of the Democratic Party,and he served in the US Air Force.
Harvey attended Glynn County Public Schools including Perry Elementary,Risley Elementary,Molette Jr. High,and Glynn Academy High School in Brunswick,Georgia. During his time in the Air Force,he received an associate degree in Systems Management from the Community College of the Air Force,a bachelor's degree in Systems Management from the University of Maryland,and a master's degree in Public Administration from Troy State University. Harvey served in the United States Air Force for 29 years,enlisting in October 1971 and retiring in October 2000. In the course of his service,he attained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E-9). [4]

Sidney Clopton Lanier was an American musician,poet and author. He served in the Confederate States Army as a private,worked on a blockade-running ship for which he was imprisoned,taught,worked at a hotel where he gave musical performances,was a church organist,and worked as a lawyer. As a poet he sometimes used dialects. Many of his poems are written in heightened,but often archaic,American English. He became a flautist and sold poems to publications. He eventually became a professor of literature at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore,and is known for his adaptation of musical meter to poetry. Many schools,other structures and two lakes are named for him,and he became hailed in the South as the "poet of the Confederacy". A 1972 US postage stamp honored him as an "American poet".
Michael Phillip Anderson was a United States Air Force officer and NASA astronaut. Anderson and his six fellow crew members were killed in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster when the craft disintegrated during its re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. Anderson served as the payload commander and lieutenant colonel in charge of science experiments on the Columbia. Anderson was posthumously awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor.
