Cory McDiarmid (born in Nanaimo, B.C.) is a Canadian gridiron football coach who is currently the special teams assistant coach for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He previously coached in the CFL with several teams and is a two-time Grey Cup winner with the BC Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He has also coached for the Panthers Wrocław in the European League of Football.

Youth coaching

Prior to engagements in professional leagues he was coaching six seasons in the Canadian Junior Football League and three years in the U Sports (formerly known as Canadian Interuniversity Sport) with the University of British Columbia where he won the 33rd Vanier Cup in 1997. Additionally he won the 2000 Canada Cup Championship with the British Columbia's Under 19 Provincial Team where he coached from 1997 to 1999. [1]

He also was defensive coordinator and special teams assistant at the Jim Barker School of Football in 2004. [1]

CFL coaching

BC Lions

Coming from successful youth coaching, his first station in professional football was with the BC Lions in the 2000 CFL season where he began as defensive quality control and linebacker coach, and was promoted to Special Teams Coach midway through the season. That year he won the 88th Grey Cup with the team. For the 2001 CFL season he was promoted to special teams coordinator and running backs coach. [2]

Toronto Argonauts

His first stint with the Toronto Argonauts was in the 2002 CFL season where he was coaching the defensive line and linebackers. He later was their special teams coordinator for the 2019 and 2020 season. [3]

Calgary Stampeders

For the 2003 and 2004 CFL season he was the special teams coordinator and defensive line coach of the Calgary Stampeders.

Montreal Alouettes

McDiarmid later became special teams coach and running backs coach for the Montreal Alouettes in the 2005) CFL season. That year Montreal lost to Edmonton, in double overtime, in the 93rd Grey Cup game held in Vancouver, BC.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The first stint with the Blue Bombers was between 2006 and 2009 where he was also the special teams coordinator and running backs coach. In 2007 the Blue Bombers made it to the 95th Grey Cup, losing to Saskatchewan Roughriders 23–19, without their starting QB who was lost in the previous game with a broken arm. In his second stint he served as linebackers coach from 2014 to 2015. [4]

Saskatchewan Roughriders

In the 2013 season McDiarmid won his second Grey Cup title with the Saskatchewan Roughrider in the 2013 CFL season as the special teams assistant. [5] He later was hired again for the 2015 CFL season where he began as assistant special teams coordinator and was later promoted to coordinator when Bob Dyce was named Head Coach.

Edmonton Eskimos

The Edmonton Eskimos (now called Edmonton Elks) hired McDiarmid as their special teams coordinator for the 2016 CFL season in an all-new coaching Staff under head coach Jason Maas team. [6] He was there till the 2018 CFL season after he was released by the management. [7] [8]

Ottawa Redblacks

On October 6, 2022, it was announced that McDiarmid had joined the Ottawa Redblacks to serve as a special teams assistant coach. [9]

ELF coaching

On March 21, 2022, the Panthers Wrocław in the European League of Football announced that McDiarmid will serve as the Special Teams coordinator and running backs coach for the 2022 season. It is his first coaching station outside of Canada. [10]

Private life

McDiarmid has a degree in criminology and worked as a federal correctional officer for the Correctional Service of Canada.

Henry Armand Burris Jr. is a gridiron football coach, former professional quarterback, and a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. He is currently an offensive quality control coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL) and was formerly an offensive quality control coach for the Chicago Bears. Burris played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 1998 to 2016. He won three Grey Cup championships, two with the Calgary Stampeders, in 1998 and 2008, having spent 10 years of his career with them, and one with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2016. He was also a sports broadcaster and football analyst at TSN, appearing as a panel member on the network's CFL on TSN broadcasts.

Jim Daley is a Canadian football coach, who currently serves as the special teams coordinator for the St. Francis Xavier X-Men. Daley is a longtime coach who served in the Canadian Football League from 1990 to 2014.

Dave Ritchie is a former gridiron football coach in college football, the Canadian Football League (CFL), the Italian Football League (IFL), and Switzerland Nationalliga A. He is best known for his time as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach from 1999 to 2004. He is a three-time Grey Cup champion, having won in 1990, 1994, and 2006 and was named the CFL's Coach of the Year in 2001. He won 108 regular season games as a head coach in the CFL which is the seventh highest win total by a head coach in the league's history.

Travis Moore is a former professional Canadian football coach who is currently serving as the receivers and pass game coordinator coach for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Moore has also been a coach for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, BC Lions, Edmonton Eskimos and Saskatchewan Roughriders. As a player, Moore played 10 seasons as a slotback for the Calgary Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders, winning two Grey Cup championships with the Stampeders in 1998 and 2001. He also played in the one and only XFL season as a wide receiver for the San Francisco Demons team that competed in the league's championship game.

The 2014 CFL season was the 61st season of modern-day Canadian football. It was the 57th Canadian Football League season. Vancouver hosted the 102nd Grey Cup on November 30. The league expanded to nine teams with the addition of the Ottawa Redblacks, giving the CFL nine teams for the first time since the 2005 season. As a result of the expansion, the schedule shifted to a 20-week regular season plus three weeks of playoffs ; the season started on June 26, 2014.

Jones previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Montreal Alouettes, Calgary Stampeders and Toronto Argonauts before becoming a head coach. Jones won four Grey Cup rings with four teams between 2002 and 2015.

He then served as the head coach for the Ottawa Redblacks for six seasons. He is a three-time Grey Cup champion, once as the special teams coordinator with the Eskimos in 2003, again with the Eskimos as the defensive coordinator in 2005, and once as the head coach of the Redblacks in 2016. He attended Washington State University.

The 2015 CFL season was the 62nd season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it was the 58th Canadian Football League season. The Edmonton Eskimos won the 103rd Grey Cup on November 29, defeating the Ottawa Redblacks 26–20 in Winnipeg. The schedule was released February 13, 2015 and the regular season began on June 25, 2015.

Jake Paul Harty is a professional Canadian football wide receiver for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He is a Grey Cup champion after winning with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2016 and he is a Vanier Cup champion as a coach after the Calgary Dinos won the 55th Vanier Cup in 2019.
