The Czech Republic, or Czechia, is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Historically known as Bohemia, it is bordered by Austria to the south, Germany to the west, Poland to the northeast, and Slovakia to the southeast. The Czech Republic has a hilly landscape that covers an area of 78,871 square kilometers (30,452 sq mi) with a mostly temperate continental and oceanic climate. The capital and largest city is Prague; other major cities and urban areas include Brno, Ostrava, Plzeň and Liberec.
Petr Čech is a Czech former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He now plays semi-professional ice hockey as a goaltender for Oxford City Stars. He has often been described by numerous players, pundits and managers as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, and, by some, as the greatest goalkeeper, alongside Peter Schmeichel, in Premier League history.
Petr Ginz was a Czechoslovak boy of partial Jewish background who was deported to the Theresienstadt Ghetto during the Holocaust. He was murdered at the age of sixteen when he was transferred to Auschwitz concentration camp and gassed to death upon arrival. His diary was published after his death.
FC Zbrojovka Brno is a professional football club based in the city of Brno, South Moravia, Czech Republic and named after Zbrojovka Brno, a firearms manufacturer. Founded in 1913 as SK Židenice, the club later became known as Zbrojovka Brno. Brno won the Czechoslovak First League in the 1977–78 season and finished as runners-up in 1979–80.
FK Příbram is a Czech football club from Příbram. The club currently plays in the Czech National Football League. It is the legal successor to Dukla Prague, a club which won 11 national league titles between 1953 and 1982.
FK Viktoria Žižkov is one of the oldest football clubs in the Czech Republic, from Žižkov. It plays in the Czech National Football League, the second tier of football in the country. 1. FC Slovácko is a Czech football club based in Uherské Hradiště. The team was established in 1927 as SK Staré Město and on 1 July 2000 as 1. FC Synot, which was a merger of the original club with FC Slovácká Slavia Uherské Hradiště. Since 2009 the club has played in the Czech First League. Slovácko have won one Czech Cup, and reached the cup final a further two times.
FC Hradec Králové is a Czech football club based in the city of Hradec Králové. The club, which was founded in 1905, won the Czechoslovak First League in the 1959–60 season. The club currently plays in the Czech First League.
FC Vysočina Jihlava is a football club from Jihlava, Czech Republic, which currently plays in the Czech National Football League, after relegated from the Czech First League, the top football competition in the Czech Republic in 2017–18 season. Jihlava played in the top flight for the first time in its history in the 2005–06 season. The club has taken part in the Czech 2. Liga more than 10 times and has also played in the Czech First League.

Elkov–Kasper is a UCI Continental road bicycle racing team based in Czech Republic and participates on the UCI Europe Tour. The sponsors of the team are Elkov, an electrical company, and Kasper, a steel manufacturer. The team was one of the best cycling teams before the lifting of the Iron Curtain. The team became professional in 2000. The best known riders for the team were Alois Kaňkovský and Tomáš Bucháček. For the 2008 season the German sprinter André Schulze came from the Wiesenhof team and also Czech cyclist Ondřej Sosenka, a former World Hour Record holder, joined the team.
The Mayors and Independents, abbreviated to STAN, is a liberal to liberal conservative political party in the Czech Republic that is focused on localism, regionalism and subsidiarity. The party grew out of four minor parties, including Independent Mayors for the Region, which allied itself with the liberal-conservative SNK European Democrats, and cooperated with the similarly liberal-conservative TOP 09 until 2016. It holds 33 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, and is the third strongest party by number of seats following the 2021 election.
ANO 2011, often shortened to simply ANO, the initials meaning Action of Dissatisfied Citizens, is a populist political party in the Czech Republic. The party has been labelled as centrist on the political spectrum by some sources, while others state that it is a centre-right party. At the European level ANO is a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party and the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament. The party is led by entrepreneur Andrej Babiš, who served as Prime Minister in 2017–2021.
Petr Pavel is a Czech politician and retired army general who is the current president of the Czech Republic since March 2023. He previously served as Chairman of the NATO Military Committee from 2015 to 2018, and as the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces from 2012 to 2015.

People involved in screenwrighting of the series include Jan Malinda and Josef Mareš. The series was selected the best Czech crime television series in last decade. Main characters are based on real life investigators and other people. The cases reflect some of the most famous real criminal cases of the modern Czech Republic. Series was renewed for third season to be aired in 2022. Season 3 concluded on 28 November 2022.
Přístav is a Czech television programme which was first broadcast in 2015. In Czech přístav means 'port'. The programme was written by various writers and directed by Jana Rezková (2015–2017), Jaromír Polisenský (2015–2016) and Ján Novák (2015–2016). The series was nominated as Best Television Drama at the 2015 Czech Lion Awards. Actress Vanda Hybnerová's father, Boris Hybner, appeared alongside her in one of the episodes.
Trpaslík (Gnome) is a Czech comedy television series. The first episode was available as a preview on the Czech Television website on December 28, 2016, and was premiered on television from January 2, 2017. It was filmed in Nymburk.
