The Cottage Ball Bank is the main sports facility on the Caribbean island of Sint Eustatius. The facility contains a football pitch, open-air swimming pool, sports hall, baseball field (known as the Fredrick Cranston Ball Field), [1] and several other fields. The facilities are also used by the island's schools. [2] It is the national stadium as it hosts the matches of the Sint Eustatius national football team. [3] In 2019 the Government of Sint Eustatius financed a number of renovation and expansion projects at the facility. [4]

The facility also houses a Cruyff Court football pitch with artificial turf which was donated by the Johan Cruyff Foundation. [5] Construction of the court began in 2006. [6] It was refurbished in 2019. [7] In 2021 a canopy roof was installed over the court. [8]

The flag of Caribbean Netherlands island of Sint Eustatius (Statia) consists of a blue field, red fimbriations, and in the center, a white diamond with a silhouette of the island. The flag was designed by Zuwena Suares and adopted on 29 July 2004 to be put into use on 16 November of that year. Since 2010, it has been the official flag of the special municipality of Sint Eustatius.

The Caribbean Netherlands are the three public bodies of the Netherlands that are located in the Caribbean Sea. They consist of the islands of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba, although the term "Caribbean Netherlands" is sometimes used to refer to all of the islands in the Dutch Caribbean. In legislation, the three islands are also known as Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba or the BES islands. The islands are currently classified as public bodies in the Netherlands and as overseas countries and territories of the European Union; thus, European Union law does not automatically apply.

The sport of association football in the territory of Sint Maarten is run by the Sint Maarten Soccer Association. The association administers the men's national football team, the women's national football team, and various national leagues, predominantly the Sint Maarten Senior League and SXM Elite Championship.

The Statia Football Association was founded in 1980, with Mike Franco serving as president for a time, and they administered association football on the island of Sint Eustatius. It is not known if the organisation is still formally extant. If so, the association administers the men's national team, as well as the Sint Eustatius Football League. However, the league was only active from 1980 until 1985.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Cruyff Court</span>

A Cruyff Court is a small football field with a surface made of artificial grass, a contemporary version of the ball court. The Courts are a project of the Johan Cruyff Foundation of which Johan Cruijff himself was one of the founders. The first was the Cruyff Court Aron Winter Veld in Lelystad. Since 2003, the Dutch football Talent of the Year may choose a location for a new court.

Same-sex marriage has been legal in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba since 10 October 2012, the effective date of legislation passed by the States General of the Netherlands enabling same-sex couples to marry.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Sint Eustatius is part of the ongoing global viral pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which was confirmed to have reached the Dutch Caribbean island of Sint Eustatius on 31 March 2020. On 5 May all cases recovered. The island's first COVID-19 death was recorded on 19 January 2022. The patient died at the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMCC) where they had been transported for treatment according to the press release of the St. Eustatius government.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Saba is part of the ongoing global viral pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which was confirmed to have reached the Dutch Caribbean island of Saba on April 12, 2020. At the beginning of the pandemic, the island had a population of just over 1,900 people. As of 12 May, all cases were reported to have recovered. On 1 August, two new cases were imported which resolved on 9 September.

The Sint Eustatius national football team is the national association football team of the Caribbean island of Sint Eustatius.
