Council High School is a public high school located in Council, Virginia in Buchanan County, Virginia. It is part of the Buchanan County Public Schools system. Athletic teams compete in the Virginia High School League and is a member of the Black Diamond District in Region D.
Council High School's Boys Basketball team were 2001 state champions. [2] The team was also awarded the Marshall Johnson Sportsmanship award for Basketball for the 2000–2001 season.
Council High School's FIRST Tech Challenge team, Team 4417 (The Venom), was created in 2010 with the help of sponsor Ms. Amanda Dorton. The team advanced to the state competition twice and also received the Think Award. The team colors are Black, Pink, & Silver. The team gives special thanks to Terra Tech Engineering of Grundy, Virginia and FTC team 2940 of Riverview Elementary/Middle School from Grundy, Virginia.

Buchanan County is a United States county in far western Virginia, the only county in the state to border both West Virginia and Kentucky. The county is part of the Southwest Virginia region and lies in the rugged Appalachian Plateau portion of the Appalachian Mountains. Its county seat is Grundy. Buchanan County was established in 1858 from parts of Russell and Tazewell counties, and it was named in honor of then-President James Buchanan. Local pronunciation differs from that of the 15th president's surname; here the county is pronounced as "Búh-can-nin". In 1880, part of Buchanan County was taken to form Dickenson County.

Dr. Floyd B. Buchanan High School, known as Buchanan High School, is a four-year public high school in Clovis, California, United States. The school is part of the Buchanan Educational Center, which houses approximately 5,000 students at Garfield Elementary School (K-6), Alta Sierra Intermediate School (7-8), and Buchanan High School. The school graduated its first class in the spring of 1995, and is named after CUSD's first district superintendent, Dr. Floyd B. Buchanan, which makes Buchanan High School the only CUSD high school that does not contain "Clovis" in its name.
