The Council of American Maritime Museums (CAMM) was established in 1974 to be a forum for professionals working in North American maritime museums. [1] [2]

It has a membership of 80+ museums, as well as scholars and professionals in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and Australia. [3]

According to a 1990 article in the journal Archaeology , the council's ethical standards "prohibit the display of artifacts from commercially exploited sites." [4]
