The County House (Irish : Teach an Chontae, Leifear) is a municipal building in Lifford, County Donegal, Ireland.
The building was originally constructed as a reformatory school for young offenders in around 1820. [1] It was substantially rebuilt to the designs of William Harte, the county surveyor, in 1868 [1] before being converted into a barracks for the British Army in around 1900 and then was taken over by the Free State Army on formation of the Irish Free State in 1922. [2] In 1930, Donegal County Council, which had previously held its meetings in Lifford Courthouse, [3] acquired the property for use as its meeting place and administrative headquarters. [2] [4]

It has close links to Letterkenny, to the twin towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar, and to West Tyrone in Northern Ireland, especially with the towns of Strabane and Castlederg.

The Finn Valley Post was a free local newspaper in County Donegal, Ireland, based in the town of Ballybofey. The paper was first published on 18 July 2007 by the River Media group, which produced other local titles such as the Donegal Post and Letterkenny Post. The newspaper covers much of east and central County Donegal, including Ballybofey, Stranorlar, Raphoe and Lifford. Its name derives from the River Finn which flows through the area.

Frank McBrearty Jnr is an Irish politician and businessman, who has been a County Councillor on Donegal County Council since 2009. The son of Frank McBrearty Snr, McBrearty became known nationally as a result of the Morris Tribunal's ruling that police had tried to frame him for the 1996 murder of Richie Barron. McBrearty pursued the Irish state in a long-running legal battle to restore his good name. In 2005, he settled all his claims against the Irish state.
