Shayne King is a former professional Grand Prix motocross racer from New Zealand. He competed in the Motocross World Championships from 1993 to 2001. King is notable for being the first New Zealand competitor to win an FIM motocross world championship. He was inducted into the New Zealand Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2008.

The 2011 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 55th F.I.M. Motocross World Championship season. It included 30 races at 15 events including Bulgaria, The Netherlands, the United States, Brazil, France, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Germany, Latvia, Limburg, Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Europe and Italy.

Courtney Tairi is a former New Zealand netball international. She also represented Australia at under-21 level. She was a member of the Australia team that won the 2009 World Youth Netball Championships. During the ANZ Championship era, Tairi played for New South Wales Swifts, Southern Steel and Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic. She finished her netball playing career with Northern Stars in the 2017 ANZ Premiership. Since retiring as a netball player, Tairi has worked a broadcaster, presenter and commentator for Sky Sport.

The 2015 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 59th F.I.M. Motocross World Championship season. It included 18 events, starting at Losail in Qatar on 28 February, and ending at San Bernardino, California in the United States on 20 September. In the main MXGP class, Tony Cairoli was the six-time defending champion, and entered the 2015 season looking to score a record seventh consecutive premier class title, for Red Bull KTM. He and Maximilian Nagl started the year strong, and as the German round rolled around Nagl had a 30 points lead over Cairoli and 38 over rookie Romain Febvre. Nagl got injured on practice and missed the next 5 rounds, ending his hopes of a maiden championship. Cairoli was struggling during the summer and ended up injured as well. Romain Febvre won the title and became the first french premier-class champion. In the MX2 class, Jordi Tixier was the defending champion, after taking the title in the final race of the 2014 season, also for Red Bull KTM. Tixier defends his title with Team Monster Energy Kawasaki.

The 2016 MXGP of Qatar was the first round of the 2016 FIM Motocross World Championship season. It was held at the Losail International Circuit in Lusail, Qatar on 26-27 February 2016 and included the first rounds of the 2016 MXGP and MX2 world championships, along with the first round of the 2016 FIM Women's Motocross World Championship. Romain Febvre was the reigning MXGP world champion, after taking his first title in 2015.

The 2016 MXGP of Europe was the third round of the 2016 FIM Motocross World Championship season. It was held in Valkenswaard, Netherlands on 27–28 March 2016. The race included the third rounds of the 2016 MXGP and MX2 world championships. It also included the second round of the 2016 FIM Women's Motocross World Championship and the first rounds of the 2016 UEM European 300cc Championship and 2016 UEM European 250cc Championship.

The 2017 FIM Women's Motocross World Championship was the 13th Women's Motocross World Championship season. Livia Lancelot was the defending champion, after taking her second title in 2016. Kiara Fontanesi won her fifth title this season.

The 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 63rd FIM Motocross World Championship season. It included 18 events, started at Neuquén in Argentina on 3 March, and ended in Shanghai, China on 15 September. In the main MXGP class, Jeffrey Herlings was the defending champion after taking his first MXGP class title and his fourth title overall in 2018. In the MX2 class, Jorge Prado was the reigning champion, after taking his first world title in 2018.

The 2020 FIM Women's Motocross World Championship was the 16th Women's Motocross World Championship season. Courtney Duncan successfully defended her title, after taking her first title in 2019.

The 2021 FIM Women's Motocross World Championship was the 17th Women's Motocross World Championship season. Courtney Duncan successfully defended her title, after taking her second title in 2020.
