Etymology

Exterior of the station.

The name is believed to be taken from the name of Punggol Cove Residents' Committee (RC) located near the station. The station's Chinese name, "海湾", was initially the same as the proposed Chinese name for Bayfront MRT station. However, to avoid possible confusion between these two stations, it was later decided that the Chinese name for Bayfront station would be "海湾舫" instead. [2]

Incidents

A 33-year old woman was killed due to an incident at Cove LRT station on 23 Mar 2023, disrupting LRT services along both directions of the Punggol LRT Line from about 10 pm onwards. Based on preliminary investigations, the police said they do not suspect foul play. [3]
