The Battle of Mactan was a fierce clash fought in the archipelago of the Philippines on April 27, 1521. The warriors of Lapulapu, one of the Datus of Mactan, overpowered and defeated a Spanish force fighting for Rajah Humabon of Cebu under the command of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, who was killed in the battle. The outcome of the battle resulted in the departure of the Spanish crew from the archipelago of the Philippines.

Legazpi continued the expeditions of Magellan, leading to the colonization of the Philippines for 333 years.

Marcelo Fernan Bridge, also known as Second Cebu-Mactan Bridge is an extradosed cable-stayed bridge located in Metro Cebu in the Philippines. It spans across Mactan Channel connecting Mandaue City to Lapu-Lapu City in Mactan Island. It is currently the second-longest cable-stayed bridge in the Philippines after Cebu-Cordova Bridge in Cebu City. Before it was named the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, it was called the Consolacion Bridge, named after the Municipality of Consolacion, which is 1.6 miles (2.6 km) from the north end of the bridge.

The Cebu Bus Rapid Transit System is a planned mass transit system for Cebu City located within the greater Cebu Metropolitan Area. It is expected to become the first operational bus rapid transit project in the Philippines. Only one line has been planned in detail so far, but scheme developers note the potential to develop a larger network comprising the adjacent cities Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue and Talisay. Leadership in both Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue have shown interest in the network. This will be constructed at the end or last quarter of 2017 and the first route could be operational by the end of 2019.

Bomfobiri Wildlife Sanctuary is a bird sanctuary, located about 80 km northeast of Kumasi within a geographical coordinate of 06°54.595'N and 001°17.340'W. The 53 km2 Bomfobiri Wildlife Sanctuary was created in 1975 with a four distinct vegetative types such as Riverine Forest, Rainforest, Woodland Savannah and Grassland Savannah. Animals present on the reserve include several species of birds, crocodiles, baboons, Mona monkeys, buffalos, red river hogs, Maxwell's duiker, red flank duiker, Bushbuck and monitor lizards. The reserve has many forms of attraction point including the Lion Stone, Stone Bridge, Bomfobiri waterfall, Wala waterfall, and caves. Activities that can be engaged in includes hiking, mountain climbing, game viewing, bird watching, camping and swimming. The reserve takes the crocodile as its symbol.
Transportation within Cebu City is mainly land-based with most parts of the city accessible by road. There is no existing mass transit but there is an existing proposal for a Cebu Bus Rapid Transit System and Cebu Light Rail Transit System, which would solve the city's worsening traffic congestion, as existing transportation modes are currently inadequate to move residents around the city as a result of many problems and factors that the local government has failed to address.
Mactan Shrine, also known as Liberty Shrine, is a memorial park on the island of Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines. It hosts two monuments, namely the Magellan Monument, which is dedicated to Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan and the Lapu Lapu Monument, a bronze statue which commemorates Lapu Lapu, a native leader who defeated Spanish soldiers led by Magellan in the 1521 Battle of Mactan.
