Crypted is an Indian four-piece death metal band from Chennai, [1] Which was formed by Arvind Muralidharan in 2009 with a different lineup. They were initially a thrash metal band which evolved into the progressive/technical death metal after the vocalist Siva joined the band. [2] They have been involved in many live shows like Unseen Underground Ragnarok’2009, [3] Unseen Underground Pub Fest IV [4] and they participated in Pegasus a competition organised by Christian Medical College, Vellore, they won the best guitarist title for Arvind Muralidharan and best drummer title for Vishnu Reddy. [1] It has become one of the most popular metal bands in the Chennai music scene.

Biography

Crypted was formed in January 2009 by Arvind Muralidharan with the band members being Arvind Muralidharan on vocals and bass guitar, Vishnu Reddy on drums, Kannan Jayaram and Avinash Raghuram on guitar as a thrash metal band. They were primarily influenced by The Big Four Thrash metal bands (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax) and Pantera, whose music soon evolved into death metal after they started getting influenced by bands like Death, Decapitated, etc. They have released their first EP named Equilibrium on 23 July 2010 in Chennai. [2] They are yet to be signed under a record label. [5]

Along with Nuclear Assault and Anthrax, whose one-time lead guitarist Dan Spitz was also an early member of Overkill, the band is one of the most successful East Coast thrash metal bands, and they are often called "the Motörhead of thrash metal". The band has a notable mascot named "Chaly", a skeletal bat with a skull-like face, horns, bony wings and green eyes, who has appeared on most of their album covers.

Thrash metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by its overall aggression and often fast tempo. The songs usually use fast percussive beats and low-register guitar riffs, overlaid with shredding-style lead guitar work. The lyrical subject matter often deals with criticisms of The Establishment and concern over the destruction of the environment, and at times shares a disdain for Christian dogma resembling that of their black metal counterparts. The language is typically quite direct and denunciatory, an approach borrowed from hardcore punk.

Kreator German thrash metal band

Kreator is a German thrash metal band from Essen, formed in 1982. Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Mille Petrozza, drummer Jürgen "Ventor" Reil, lead guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö, and bassist Frédéric Leclercq. The band's lineup has changed multiple times over its 38-year career, most noticeably with their bassists and lead guitarists. Petrozza and Reil are the only two original members left in Kreator, though the latter had one hiatus from the band, from 1994 to 1996. Yli-Sirniö has been the lead guitarist of Kreator since 2001, while Leclercq joined in 2019 as the replacement of Christian "Speesy" Giesler, who had been a member of the band since 1994.

Sean Reinert American musician

Sean Reinert was an American musician, songwriter and drummer of Æon Spoke. He was also the drummer and founding member of Cynic, until leaving the band in September 2015. He credited such drummers as Dave Miranda, John Bonham, Alex Van Halen, Dave Weckl, Gary Husband and Vinnie Colaiuta as being an important influence in his formative years.

Extreme metal is a loosely defined umbrella term for a number of related heavy metal music subgenres that have developed since the early 1980s. It has been defined as a "cluster of metal subgenres characterized by sonic, verbal, and visual transgression".

Metalcore is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk together. Among other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, which are slow, intense passages conducive to moshing.
