Inner Sanctum is an Indian death/thrash metal band from Bangalore, formed in 2006.
Inner Sanctum has received awards including the Band of the Year 2007 (Levis)[ citation needed ], Indian Band of the year 2009 [1] and Best Emerging Band of the year (2010 Jack Daniels Rock Awards (India)). [2] [3]
Inner Sanctum have independently released an EP Provenance in 2009. Recorded at Resonance Studios, Bangalore and mixed and mastered at LSD Studios, Germany. Provenance was hailed as one of the top 10 EPs of the decade by Rock Street Journal (RSJ) in 2010.[ citation needed ]
Inner Sanctum have gigged extensively all across the country and supported some of the biggest metal bands in India, including Metallica for 2011 Vladivar Rock 'N India in Bangalore. [4] They opened the 2011 Rock 'N India show along with Guillotine and Scottish Band Biffy Clyro for Metallica on 30 October 2011. [5] [6]
Inner Sanctum have also supported bands like Amon Amarth, Cradle of Filth, Enslaved and Textures on their Indian tours, and completed a European tour in June 2013 ending it with an appearance in Metalfest Open Air Poland, alongside Down, Red Fang, Destruction, Entombed, Karma to Burn and many more.[ citation needed ] Inner sanctum had also opened for the American thrash metal band Slayer in 2012 Vladivar Rock 'N India, Bangalore in October 2012.
Inner Sanctum are one of the first Indian bands to have personalised gig flyers for each of their gigs. Vocalist, Gaurav Basu does all the bands artwork and posters. The bands' love for the poster culture of the west has pushed them to introduce it amongst the independent music scene in India. [7]
Inner Sanctum was formed in the early months of 2007. Chintan and Michael, the founder members having played with each other for several years decided to join forces and form a band that would best express their influences in music. Tejas who previously played for Premonition was roped in as the second guitar player. In search of a drummer and vocalist the trio auditioned several but zeroed in on Abhinav (ex Illusion) and Gaurav, thus completing the line up. Inner Sanctum has over the years earned critical and commercial acclaim and has even numerous awards including the Band of the Year 2007 (Levis), Band of the year 2009 (headbangers.in) and Best Emerging Band of the year (Jack Daniels Rock Awards).

Rudra is a Singaporean band which was formed in 1992. Rudra play a uniquely composed avant garde blend of styles, including, among others, black metal-influenced death metal with interpolations and extended passages of traditional Carnatic music. The lyrical content is derived from Sanskrit Vedic literature and philosophy with, ancient mantras (shlokas) incorporated into the song structures. The band describes the style as Vedic metal.

Nerverek is an Indian progressive metal band formed in Chennai, India. The band won Campus Rock Idols '07, becoming the first South Indian band to win the national inter-college contest. They performed recently as the opening act for international act, the Scorpions in Bangalore and also opened for Iron Maiden in their tour to India at Mumbai on 1 February 2008. In January 2011, they opened for Pain of Salvation along with Bicycle Days at Saarang 2011, the annual cultural festival of IIT Madras.
Global Metal is a 2007 documentary film directed by Scot McFadyen and Canadian anthropologist Sam Dunn. It is a follow-up to their successful 2005 documentary, Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. The film's international premiere took place at the Bergen International Film Festival on 17 October 2007. Global Metal aims to show the impact of globalization on the heavy metal underground as well as how different people from different cultures are transforming heavy metal music.
Kryptos is an Indian heavy metal band from Bangalore, India, formed in 1998 by Nolan Lewis (vocals/guitars) and Ganesh K. (bassist). They are one of the pioneers of the modern Indian heavy metal movement. Rock 'n India was an annual music festival organised by event management company DNA Networks in conjunction with Nous Productions at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore. It was launched in 2008 as India's only music festival. Rock 'n India gave Indian bands the opportunity to play in front of large audiences alongside international artists. Throughout its existence, the festival featured iconic rock acts such as Megadeth, Machine Head, Iron Maiden, Biffy Clyro, Metallica and Slayer.
Millennium is an Indian metal band from Bangalore. The band was formed in 1988 as one of the first Indian metal bands.
Avial are an Indian alternative rock band formed in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India in 2003, and known for their Malayalam lyrics. The band initially included lead vocalist Anandraj Benjamin Paul, guitarist Rex Vijayan, turntablist and backing vocalist Tony John, bassist Naresh Kamath and drummer Mithun Puthanveetil. Avial had their first breakthrough with the 2003 single "Nada Nada". They are known for pioneering what they call "Alternative Malayali rock", which is the style of combining Malayalam lyrics and rock music. Their eponymous album got them six out of seven Jack Daniels Rock Awards and Footprints Young Achiever's Award in 2008. The band was praised for achieving mainstream success despite singing in their native language.
The Damage, Inc. Tour was a concert tour by American heavy metal band Metallica in support of the band's third studio album, Master of Puppets. The name of the tour is taken from the last song on the album. It began on March 27, 1986, and ended on February 13, 1987.
Demonic Resurrection is a symphonic death metal band from Mumbai, India, formed in 2000. Its current line-up consists of Sahil "The Demonstealer" Makhija on vocals and rhythm guitar and Virendra "Viru" Kaith on drums. They indicate that their original tracks are basically a part of a three tier concept of a man's realisation of the hollowness of religious faith. The Cynic is a concept album about a man who is an atheist and frustrated by the fact that religion has taken over society.
Agam is a Bangalore-based contemporary Carnatic progressive rock band. The band was formed in the year 2003. The current lineup consists of Harish Sivaramakrishnan (vocals) Swamy Seetharaman, T Praveen Kumar, Aditya Kasyap, Sivakumar Nagarajan, Jagadish Natarajan and Yadhunandan (Drummer). Jagadish Natarajan replaced Suraj Satheesh as the rhythm guitarist in 2012 but the lineup of the band has otherwise remained same. Vignesh Lakshminarayanan was replaced by Aditya Kasyap on bass and backing vocals. Agam is often featured on the Malayalam music channel Kappa TV.

The band is widely known for being the 'Pioneers of Metal music in Central India', as they were one of the first bands to introduce heavy metal music in the region. Their songs "Odium" and "Rein of Fire" were released for free downloading by the band on various websites. The band is influenced by American and British rock and metal bands such as Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden and Pantera.
