The Cullman County Museum is a local history museum located in downtown Cullman, Alabama, on the corner of Arnold St. and 2nd Ave. N.E. It is housed in a replica of the home of Col. John G. Cullmann, the founder of Cullman. The museum, which opened in 1973 during the town's centennial, collects and preserves items that illustrate life in Cullman's past, including the area's natural history and its Native American and German settlers. John G. Cullmann

John Gottfried Cullmann was a German businessman and political activist who emigrated to the United States as a result of his financial ruin related to participation in the Revolution of 1848. Born in Frankweiler in the Rheinpfalz in what was then the Kingdom of Bavaria, Cullmann was the son of a school principal. At the age of 13, he began attending the Zweibrücken Polytechnic Institute, taking a degree in engineering. He married the daughter of a wealthy banking family, Josephine Low, and settled in the town of Neustadt, founding an export business there.

Flint Creek is a major tributary along the Tennessee River that runs in the US state of Alabama for its entire length. Its headwaters are in northern Cullman County, and after running through Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge, it ends in the Tennessee River at Decatur.
