The European Youth Olympic Festival is a multi-sport event held in both summer and winter disciplines every second year. Figure skating is one of the sports in its winter edition. The competition is held in junior category.

The 2023 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival or simply EYOF 2023, also known as Maribor 2023, was the 17th edition of the European Youth Summer Olympic Festival, held from 23 to 29 July 2023 in Maribor, Slovenia. The festival was originally supposed to take place in Koper, Slovenia. In June 2021, Maribor was announced as the new host city after Koper withdrew its candidacy.

Freestyle skiing at the 2023 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival was held from 22 to 27 January at Ski Area Ravascletto Zoncolan in Ravascletto, Italy. This was the first time freestyle skiing has been included in the EYOF programme.
Ice hockey at the 2023 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival comprised two ice hockey tournaments – a boys' under-17 tournament and a girls' under-16 tournament – during the Friuli-Venezia Giulia 2023 edition of the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF). Both tournaments were held during 22 to 27 January 2023. The boys' tournament was played in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of Italy at the Fiera di Udine in Udine and the girls' tournament was played at the Eissportarena in Spittal an der Drau, Austria, the only event of the festival to be held in Austria.

Ski jumping at the 2023 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival was held from 23 to 27 January at Planica Nordic Centre in Planica, Slovenia.
Ski mountaineering at the 2023 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival was held from 24 to 27 January at Ski area Forni di Sopra in Forni di Sopra, Italy. This was the first time that Ski mountaineering was part of European Youth Olympic Winter Festival due to the sport making its debut at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
