Curtis Hamilton (born November 15, 1985 [2] ) is an American actor and former football wide receiver. He played college football for Western Kentucky from 2004 through 2007 [1] before playing professionally for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League.

Early life

Hamilton was born to parents Curtis, an entrepreneur, and Linette, a teacher. [1] He went to Paducah Tilghman High School. [2] He graduated from Western Kentucky University.

Career

Football career

Hamilton was a wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. On 27 April 2008, he was signed as a free agent by the Chicago Bears. [3] Previously, he played for Western Kentucky from 2004 through 2007. [1] [4]

Acting career

In 2012, he moved to Hollywood and appeared in 30 national TV commercials and print campaigns. In 2016, he played the lead role of American rapper Dr. Dre in the original film, Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge, and Michel'le. [5] The film was released in on 15 October 2016. The movie is considered a response from Michel'le's side of her relationship that was not included in the movie released in 2015, Straight Outta Compton . Dr. Dre had an abusive relationship with Michel'le, that the original movie does not depict. [6] Before appearing in this film, Hamilton had minor parts in shows Rizzoli & Isles . In 2015, he wrote, directed and produced the short film The Missed Call. [7]

He has also worked with record producer Dr. Dre, co-writing his solo debut album, while Dre produced Curry's debut studio album, No One Can Do It Better (1989), which was released by Eazy-E's Ruthless Records in a joint venture with Atlantic Records. With Dr. Dre and record executives Suge Knight and Dick Griffey, Curry co-founded Death Row Records in 1991, which has signed artists including Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg.

The film is based on the true story of R&B singer Michel'le. The omission of Michel'le's involvement in the lives of Dre in N.W.A's 2015 biopic, Straight Outta Compton, gave her an opportunity to tell her story as a former artist on Eazy-E's Ruthless Records.

Cameron Damonte Echols-Luper is an American professional football wide receiver and return specialist for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He attended Auburn High School in Auburn, Alabama, where he was a quarterback and won six state titles in track and field. He played college football for the TCU Horned Frogs from 2013 to 2014 as a wide receiver and earned Phil Steele second-team freshman All-American honors as a punt returner. He then transferred to play for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers as a quarterback in 2015 but ended up playing wide receiver there as well after sitting out his first season due to NCAA transfer rules. He transferred to play his final season of college football for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in 2017.
