The Bolivarian Games are a regional multi-sport event held in honor of Simón Bolívar, and organized by the Bolivarian Sports Organization. The event is open to athletes from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. In 2010, the ODEBO decided to include Chile as the seventh member of ODEBO. Yuderqui Maridalia Contreras, also known as Yudelkis Contreras, is a Dominican Republican weightlifter. She went to the 2008 Summer Olympics where she was 5th. After the Games, she was accused of failing a doping control, but the case ended with her name cleared. She was one of the two athletes that represented her home country in weightlifting at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She failed her three attempts in the snatch stage ending with no mark.

The IX Central American Games was a multi-sport event that took place between 9 and 19 April 2010. The competition featured 23 sports which were contested at various venues, with Panama acting as the primary host country and El Salvador playing a supporting role.

The South American Race Walking Championships is a biennial race walking competition organized by CONSUDATLE for athletes representing the countries of its member associations. Races for senior men and women, for junior and for youth athletes are featured. In addition, there are separate team competitions. The event was established in 1989 as South American Race Walking Cup, and was occurring annually at first. The 2001 event was held in conjunction with the Pan American Race Walking Cup. The name as well as the frequency of the competition were changed in 2004.

The Central American Junior and Youth Championships in Athletics is an athletics event organized by the Central American Isthmus Athletic Confederation (CADICA) open for athletes from member associations.

The Central American Age Group Championships in Athletics is an athletics event organized by the Confederación Atlética del Istmo Centroamericano CADICA open for athletes from member associations. The event is divided into the Junior C (U-16) Central American Championships and the Infantile A (U-14) Central American Championships. The Junior C category is open for girls and boys aged 14–15. The Infantile A category is open for girls and boys aged 12–13. The competition started to be open for age groups U-14 and U-12 as Campeonatos Centroamericanos Infantil. There is a report on an early competition held in the year 1984 in El Salvador. At least from 1999 on, it is verified that the competition is held annually. In 2007, the format was changed to be open for the age groups U-16 and U-14, with U-12 competitions being held occasionally. In 2012, a specific Central American "Kids Athletics" tournament was introduced for this age group.

The Wrestling competition at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games was held in Cartagena, Colombia.

The 24th Central American Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio de Atletismo del Instituto Nicaragüense de Deportes in Managua, Nicaragua, between June 21–23, 2013.

Underwater sports, for the 2013 Bolivarian Games, took place from 17 November to 29 November 2013. The three sports chosen for these Games were finswimming, free-diving and spearfishing. The two free-diving events was contested at the Sports complex Mansiche's pool. The long distance finswimming was held at Salaverry. Spearfishing events were held in waters north of the island of San Lorenzo located to the west of Callao.

The 2002 Pan American Cycling Championships took place at the José Luis Recalde Velodrome in Quito, Ecuador August 18–23, 2002, and served as a qualifier for the cycling events at the 2003 Pan American Games. Mexico became champion after winning six golds, four silver and one bronze medal.

The 2015 Pan American Track Cycling Championships took place at the Peñalolén Velodrome, Santiago, Chile, September 2–6, 2015.

The 2016 Pan American Road Cycling Championships took place at San Cristóbal, Táchira, Venezuela, May 19–22, 2016.

Jhonnatan Botero Villegas is a Colombian mountain bike racer. Among his most important achievements are the team gold medal obtained at the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games and the fifth place in mountain biking at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
