The Men's time trial H2 road cycling event at the 2016 Summer Paralympics took place on 14 September at Flamengo Park, Pontal. Eight riders from seven nations competed. [1]
H or handcycle classifications are for cyclists using handcycles rather than standard bicycles, because of lower limb dysfunction or amputation.
The H2 category is specifically for athletes with tetraplegia C7/C8 and severe athetosis/ataxia/dystonia, and tetraplegics with impairments corresponding to a complete cervical lesion at C7/C8 or above. This classification is marked by complete loss of trunk stability and lower limb function, and spinal cord injury. The H2 time trial features athletes with the most severe impairments in the H class.
Former Paralympic swimmer, and eight time World champion, Italy's Luca Mazzone took the gold medal, 6 seconds ahead of rival William Groulx of the United States, the first of three medals Mazzone would win (the others coming in the H2 road race and the Mixed team relay).

Cycling at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, consisted of 31 events in two disciplines, track cycling and road cycling. Track cycling took place at the Olympic Velodrome, and road cycling at Vouliagmeni.
Cycling at the 2008 Summer Paralympics consisted of 44 events in two main disciplines, track cycling and road cycling. Track cycling was held in Laoshan Velodrome on 7–10 September, and road cycling took place at the Changping Triathlon Venue on 12–14 September.

Burkina Faso sent a delegation to the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, United Kingdom, from 29 August to 9 September 2012. This was the country's fifth appearance at a Summer Paralympic Games. The Burkinese delegation to London consisted of two athletes, Lassane Gasbeogo and Kadidia Nikiema, who competed in wheelchair cycling at the Brands Hatch race circuit in Kent. Neither athlete won any medals in their respective events, with the best finish of Burkina Faso at these Paralympics coming from Nikiema in the women's road trial H3 race with a sixth-place result.
Cycling at the 2016 Summer Paralympics consisted of 50 events in two main disciplines, track cycling and road cycling. The venues were the Rio Olympic Velodrome for track cycling in the Barra Cluster, and the Flamengo Park for the road cycling disciplines in the Copacapana Cluster. The Men's 100m athletics events for the 2016 Summer Paralympics take place at the Estádio Olímpico João Havelange from September 8 to September 16, 2016. A total of 16 events were contested over this distance, and entry was open in 19 classifications.
The Men's road time trial cycling events at the 2016 Summer Paralympics took place on September 17 at Flamengo Park, Pontal. Eleven events took place over twelve classifications. The T1-2 time trial, which took in two classifications, was a 'factored' event, with times adjusted by classification to allow fair competition.
Para-cycling at the 2017 ASEAN Para Games was held at two locations in the Klang Valley. Track cycling was held in Nilai Velodrome, Negeri Sembilan whereas Road Cycling was held in Putrajaya.
Cycling at the 2020 Summer Paralympics is taking part in two separate locations. Track cycling is taking place at the Izu Velodrome from 25 to 28 August 2021 and road cycling will take place on the Fuji Speedway from 31 August to 3 September 2021.
