The Cyprus Internet Exchange (CyIX) is an Internet exchange point that was created in 1999 by the Cyprus Institute of Technology and three founding members Cytanet, LogosNet and CyLink (now part of PrimeTel). CyIX has been hosted in CYNET (Cyprus Research and Education Network) premises for over a decade. CYNET is the NREN (National Research & Education Network) of Cyprus. [1] [2]

Eurescom is a private organisation for managing European research and development projects in telecommunications. Eurescom is based in Heidelberg, Germany, and currently has 16 network operators as members performing collaborative research and development.

eduroam

eduroam is an international roaming service for users in research, higher education and further education. It provides researchers, teachers, and students network access when visiting an institution other than their own. Authentication of users is performed by their home institution, using the same credentials as when they access the network locally, while authorization to access the Internet and possibly other resources is handled by the visited institution. Users do not have to pay for using eduroam.

The Internet in Greece relied on PSTN/ISDN modem dial-up from 1990 until 2003, when ADSL was commercially launched by incumbent operator OTE. ADSL2+, VDSL2 and GPON are currently the main broadband standards. Greece also has 3G, 4G, 4G+ and occasionally 5G mobile broadband (HSPA) and a more expensive Satellite Internet access. Greece has an extensive fiber optic network throughout the country.

KidsCo

KidsCo was an international children's television channel, founded by Canadian broadcaster Corus Entertainment's Nelvana, American-based producer DIC Entertainment, and European broadcaster Sparrowhawk Media Group in April 2007. By the end of 2007, Sparrowhawk was purchased by media conglomerate NBC Universal, thus giving the company its share in the brand. In June 2008, DiC Entertainment was acquired by Cookie Jar Group, thus also having a stake. In May 2012, Cookie Jar's minority shares in KidsCo were brought by NBCUniversal and Corus, which saw NBCUniversal become majority shareholder with a 51% share while Corus obtained a 43.8% share.

The European University Cyprus (EUC) is a private university in Nicosia, Cyprus which evolved out of Cyprus College, the oldest institution of higher education in Cyprus. EUC has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and performance. The institution has a current enrollment of more than 6,500 students and provides internationally recognized undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees. Students are graded based on the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).

PrimeTel

Primetel PLC is a Cyprus telecommunications company that offers and develops Voice, Data and Video services. The company owns and operates a truly regional network, spanning across Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Russia and the United Kingdom, providing city-to-city connectivity, data communications, fiber optic fixed network infrastructure and IP-based services between key European and Middle East markets. Primetel is one of the few telecommunications operators in the region that can provide a full spectrum of connectivity and services.

Television in Cyprus was introduced in 1956. In 1957, CyBC was created. Private TV was introduced on 26 April 1992, by Logos TV which started its transmissions in stereo and Teletext from day one. The first private TV station of Cyprus was owned and operated by the Church of Cyprus. In August 1995, the same station introduced the first internet service provider in Cyprus, LOGOSNET. The Republic of Cyprus currently uses the PAL colour system and has converted terrestrial transmissions to digital on 1 July 2011, in line with EU policy. Because of the political division of the island, television companies are also divided.

Telecommunications in Cyprus includes radio, television, fixed and mobile telephones, and the Internet, in the Republic of Cyprus.

Greek Internet Exchange

The Greek Internet Exchange (GR-IX) is an Internet exchange point located in Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece. It was founded in 2009 in order to replace the Athens Internet Exchange as the principal Internet Exchange Point in Greece, which was achieved in January 2010. GR-IX is non-profit, independent and is supervised by the Greek Research and Technology Network (GRNET). GR-IX is a member of the European Internet Exchange Association.

CYTA

CYTA Ltd. is a telecommunication provider in Cyprus.

Education in Cyprus is overseen by the Ministry of Education, Sports, Youth and Culture.

PREGINET

The Philippine Research, Education, and Government Information Network (PREGINET) is a national research and education network established in the Philippines by the Advanced Science and Technology Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-ASTI). The network provides interconnect between research and higher education institutions in the Philippines, and to other international research networks within the Asia Pacific region. PREGINET also manages the PHOpenIX, the only neutral Internet exchange in the Philippines, allowing neutral peering between local Internet service providers and other commercial institutions.

The Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation (CSEO) is a non-governmental, nonprofit, science organisation, based in Cyprus, with a global scope of service and activities. Its main functions are outreach, education, research, development, space advocacy, and international cooperation in the field of space exploration, astronautics and astronomy. The organisation promotes and facilitates international scientific collaboration in space exploration, and fosters domestically collaboration with other space-faring nations in science, space and planetary missions. It was founded in 2012 and has over 1000 registered researchers, members and volunteers and over 200,000+ followers on social media. Its president is George A Danos, and the chair of CSEO's international council is Prof Marcello Coradini, ESA's head of solar system and robotic exploration (1987–2010).

Epic (Cyprus)

Epic LTD, is a Cyprus based telecommunications services provider owned by Monaco Telecom. It is the second largest mobile network operator in Cyprus by number of subscribers, behind CYTA. In addition to its already established mobile network, the company is an integrated telecommunications solutions provider for fixed telephony, broadband services and TV. Following its rebranding from MTN to Epic its slogan has been "Great network. Great value".
