Halland is one of the traditional provinces of Sweden (landskap), on the western coast of Götaland, southern Sweden. It borders Västergötland, Småland, Scania and the sea of Kattegat. Until 1645 and the Second Treaty of Brömsebro, it was part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Its name means Land of Rocky Slabs referring to the coastal cliffs of especially the northern part of the region.

Sterling Ruby is an American artist who works in a large variety of media including ceramics, painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, video, and textiles. Often, his work is presented in large and densely packed installations. The artist has cited a diverse range of sources and influences including aberrant psychologies, urban gangs and graffiti, hip-hop culture, craft, punk, masculinity, violence, public art, prisons, globalization, American domination and decline, waste and consumption. In opposition to the minimalist artistic tradition and influenced by the ubiquity of urban graffiti, the artist's works often appear scratched, defaced, camouflaged, dirty, or splattered. Proclaimed as one of the most interesting artists to emerge this century by New York Times art critic Roberta Smith, Ruby's work examines the psychological space where individual expression confronts social constraint. Sterling Ruby currently lives and works in Los Angeles. His studio is located in Vernon, south of downtown Los Angeles.
Tylösand is an area and former locality situated in Halmstad Municipality, Halland County, Sweden, with 399 inhabitants in 2010. It is located 7 km west of Halmstad, on Tyludden. Tylösand is famous for its 7 km long sand beach, its golf courses and “Hotell Tylösand”, a hotel owned by Roxette star Per Gessle and Björn Nordstrand. In 2015 the locality was removed and is counted as part of Frösakull by Statistics Sweden.

Halmstadgruppen was a group of six artists that collectively followed and developed avant-garde modern art movements such as cubism, post-cubism, purist, futurist and surrealism at Halmstad in Halland County, Sweden. A permanent showroom in Mjellby, now Mjellby Art Museum in Halmstad was created to exhibit their art. Here an extensive collection of the Halmstadgruppen works are exhibited. The museum was founded in 1980 by Swedish art critic and museum director Viveka Bosson. She is the daughter of the late Erik Olson, one of the members in Halmstadgruppen. Bosson bought the former site of the Mjellby folkskola outside Halmstad in 1980, setting up Mjellby Art Museum and later donated it to the Halmstad Municipality in 1997.
Erik Artur Olson was a Swedish painter, illustrator, graphic artist, sculptor, theater decorator, and member of Halmstadgruppen. He was the brother of artist Axel Olson, and in 1929 married Solvig Sven-Nilsson. Olson is represented, for example, at the National Museum and the Museum of Modern Art. Olson is known as a Swedish surrealist. He devoted himself to dream-like, over realistic artwork.

Joseph Hart is an American artist. Originally from Peterborough, New Hampshire, he currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Hart's work has also been included in notable group shows at the Frans Masareel Center in Belgium, Bronx Museum of the Arts and the Santa Monica Museum of Art. His work is in the public collections of The Rhode Island School of Design Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Hart received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1999.

Eva Louise Buus is a Danish artist. A graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, she has exhibited in Denmark, Germany and Greenland. Her landscapes are principally concerned with the effects of light and darkness on the appearance of her images. In 2015, she exhibited works in Fanø Museum which she had created by subjecting plates of copper to the effects of various acids, inspired by the landscapes of the Swedish painter Carl Johan Forsberg. More recently her metallic works have drawn on his recently rediscovered watercolours of women.
Annika Ström is a Swedish artist, living and working in London, United Kingdom. Ström works mainly with performance art, text, films and sound. Her work addresses subjective states of crisis and insecurity in songs, videos and text pieces displaying self-reflective phrases like "Excuse me I am sorry, Everything in this show can be used against me, I am a better artist than I deserve". In her films Ström draws upon details of everyday life and seemingly insignificant experiences usually accompanied by her own low-fi synth-pop soundtracks. She often works with members of her family. Her films explore the subjects of failure, loss and disappearance. Ström's text works consist of phrases, normally no more than a few words, transcribed onto sheets of paper or, onto a wall. Her videos, songs and text works are structured around the poetic transfiguration of the ordinary. Her work has been featured in many international exhibitions such as Palais de Tokyo, Whitsable Biennale.
