Dwayne Domonick Grant (born November 4, 1987), known as D-Teck, is an American hip hop recording artist, record producer, songwriter, rapper, and label owner. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica and was raised in the Bronx, New York. He has worked with and produced the likes of Common Kings, Akon, Cara Braia, IamStylezMusic, Richie Loop, JQT, DJ Pain 1 and most recently was CEO of Wazzup Media Group.

Musical career

2001–2010: Early career

In 2001, D-TECK began writing, singing, and rapping in part by his love of hip-hop. In 2004, D-Teck was introduce to Christopher "Spida" Boswell, former member of the Refugee Camp and currently of Konvict Yard Muzik. Christopher "Spida" Boswell was the one who gave Dwayne the name "D-Teck". In 2010, Qwes Kross, elevated D-TECK as an official member of the 50/50 Konvict Muzik. [1] D-Teck is online marketing director, A&R and recording artist.

2010–2014: Konvict Muzik

In early 2012, D-teck was promoted as A&R Director for Konvict Muzik Group by the Co-CEO and Founder Melvin E. Brown. [2] As A&R Director, D-Teck presented Common Kings to both Melvin E. Brown and Co-founder of Konvict Muzik Group Megastar Akon. Common Kings were subsequently signed to Sony Music division in Australia. D-Teck was also instrumental in discovering K-pop Girls group JQT. As a result, JQT was also signed to Konvict Muzik. Currently, D-Teck is the Director of Artist & Repertoire, Talent Scouting, and Music Production.

2015–present: Wazzup Media Group

In 2015, Dwayne "D-Teck" Grant created Wazzup Media Group, and is its CEO . [3] D-Teck realized the need for a platform that covers entertainment in a broad sense without media bias; therefore, launching the conglomerate. D-Teck expertise and connections in the industry pivots as the engine behind Wazzup Media Group which expands radio, internet marketing, advertising, and a recording label. On November 7, 2016, Wazzup Media Group launched the company to the public with a gala that included performances by Ted Park, Muscle Team Fuzz, and perishable items for charity provided by celebrity chef, Shawnae Dixon. The discography of Akon, a Senegalese American singer, songwriter and music producer, consists of five studio albums, four mixtapes, one extended play, thirty eight singles, eight promotional singles and ninety-two music videos. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Akon lived in Senegal with his family until the age of seven, when they returned to the United States to live in New Jersey. A three-year prison sentence inspired Akon to begin recording songs in his home studio: Universal Records signed him after becoming aware of his music, and his debut album Trouble was released in June 2004. Two of its singles – "Locked Up" and "Lonely" – reached the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100, with the latter topping numerous singles charts worldwide and being certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). "Don't Matter" is a reggae fusion–R&B song by Senegalese-American singer Akon from his second studio album, Konvicted (2006). The song was released as the album's third single in January 2007. In April of that year, it became Akon's second U.S. number-one single. "Don't Matter" was ranked number 31 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007. This song was also ranked number 81 on MTV Asia's list of Top 100 Hits of 2007.

Roderick Anthony Burton II better known by his stage name Dolla, was an American rapper from Atlanta, Georgia. Burton embarked on his music career in 2003, with hip hop group Da Razkalz Cru, under the pseudonym Bucklyte. The group quickly disbanded, and Burton went on to work as a model for the Sean John clothing line. In 2007, Burton signed to Akon's Konvict Muzik label. Burton released three singles from 2007 to 2009. The first, his commercial debut single "Who the Fuck Is That?", featuring T-Pain and Tay Dizm, charted on the Billboard Hot 100.

Three Ringz is the third studio album by American singer and rapper T-Pain. JQT was a four-member South Korean girl group under GP Entertainment. The 'J' in the group's name comes from the common letter in each of the members' names, while the 'QT' stands for 'Quality' and 'Quartet'. Three of the four members are from the disbanded group i-13, a girl group that was considered the female equivalent of Super Junior. The group originally debuted in 2009 with Min Jung, Ga Jin, Ji Eun and Min Sun. In September 2011, it was announced that Min Sun would be leaving the group to focus on a career in acting. She was replaced by Lee Jin Kyung, who was previously a trainee at GP Entertainment. Cydel Charles Young, known professionally as CyHi the Prynce, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Stone Mountain, Georgia. He signed a major label recording contract with Akon's Konvict Muzik, in a joint venture with Def Jam Recordings in 2009. The following year, he gained mainstream attention for his guest appearance alongside Jay-Z, Pusha T, Swizz Beatz, and RZA on Kanye West's 2010 song "So Appalled" from his album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010). He was then credited with extensive songwriting work on West's further releases, resulting in five Grammy Award nominations for Best Rap Song, as well as one additional nomination for his work on Travis Scott's 2018 single "Sicko Mode."

Melvin Brown is an American music manager and President/CEO of Melvin Brown Music Group (MBMG). Brown also operates partnerships as CO-Founder/CO-CEO of Konvict Muzik along with superstar singer Akon. In addition, Brown serves as co-owner of S&B Creative.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Konvict Kulture</span> Record label

Konvict Kulture is a record label founded by R&B singer Akon, Melvin Brown and Bu Thiam in 2003 under the name Konvict Muzik. Artists including T-Pain, Kat DeLuna, Mali Music, Red Café, Dolla, Ya Boy, and Costa Titch have signed to and released singles or albums by the label. Heard at the beginning of many of the label's recordings, besides Akon's own production or songwriting contribution, is the sound of the clank of a jail cell, followed by Akon uttering "Konvict". In 2022, the label was rebranded into Konvict Kulture. By 2011, Fotemah Mba was appointed Vice President of A&R for the label.
