Dwight Craig Horn (born May 9,1944) is a former Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. [1] He represented the 68th district (containing parts of Union County) from 2011 until 2021. Afterwards,he served a term as mayor of Weddington. [2]

Union County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census,the population was 238,267. Its county seat is Monroe. Union County is included in the Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia,NC-SC Metropolitan Statistical Area.

W. Carlton Weddington is a former member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 27th District. He resigned his Ohio House seat after his indictment on bribery and ethics charges in March 2012,the first sitting state legislator in Ohio indicted for bribery in 100 years. Weddington was convicted of the charges and sentenced in June 2012 to three years in prison.
Weddington High School (WHS) is a public high school located east of Weddington,North Carolina as part of Union County Public Schools. As of August 2020,the school has been operating under the leadership of principal Jeff Kraftson. Weddington's important feeder schools,Weddington Elementary and Weddington Middle,are located on the same campus as the high school. Other feeder schools include Antioch Elementary,in Matthews/Indian Trail,and Wesley Chapel Elementary,in Monroe. WHS mainly serves Weddington,Wesley Chapel and the Union County portion of Matthews. It also has some students from western Monroe.

The primary election was originally going to be held on March 8,2022,with a run-off in June 2022,however the North Carolina Supreme Court delayed the primary until May 17,2022,pending challenges over the State's districts and paused candidate filing. Prior to this pause,several candidates had already filed to run The elections will be held under new districts passed by the General Assembly in House Bill 976 to account for population changes following the 2020 census. The maps were later overturned by the North Carolina Supreme Court,who ordered the legislature to draw new maps. The North Carolina General Assembly later redrew the maps which were upheld by the Wake County Superior Court and the North Carolina Supreme Court. Candidate filing resumed on February 24,2022 and concluded on March 4,2022.
