VI Music is a Puerto Rican record label specializing in the reggaeton genre, founded by reggaeton producers Mario VI, Álex Gárgolas and Juan Vidal. The record label came to prominence after securing a joint venture with Universal Music Latino and Machete Music. Their albums include gold and platinum productions such as "The Last Don" and "King of Kings" by Don Omar, Barrio Fino by Daddy Yankee, "A la Reconquista" and "La Historia Live" by Héctor & Tito, "Los MVP" by Angel & Khriz and "Sin Límite" by Magnate & Valentino among many others. During the height of their popularity, VI Music had some of the most successful reggaeton acts signed to their label. The company has not released an album since 2009 after most of their artists left or had their contracts sold to Universal Music Latino, most notably Don Omar. Álex Gárgolas left the company and went on to discover and manage Farruko during his first international successes. Mario VI currently hosts his own radio show "La Jungla" in Puerto Rico alongside legendary radio personality El Coyote.
Angel & Khriz are a Puerto Rican reggaeton duo, consisting of Angel Rivera Guzmán (Angel) and Christian Colón Rolon (Khriz). Their high-impact performance on this first-time-out recording led to their sponsorship by Héctor el Father. Through that relationship the duo recorded their first single, "Cazando Voy," which reached platinum status and earned them the reputation as "the MVPs of the year." In 2004, they signed with MVP Records and toured extensively throughout South and Central America. The success of their debut recording, Los MVPs, garnered attention and an eventual distribution with Universal's Machete Music, a label targeting the ever-growing urban Latino audience. Appearances in many U.S. cities to receptive crowds have earned the duo a reputation as one of reggaeton's most popular duos. In 2005, their debut studio album Los MVP was released and featured the hit singles "Ven Baílalo" and "De Cazeria". The album was certified Platinum by the United States Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and a special edition was released the following year. The special edition of Los MVP featured their two singles "Fua" and "De Lao a Lao". Performances at high-visibility events like opening Premios Juventud and closing the 2006 Latin Billboard Awards alongside Tito El Bambino and Wisin & Yandel continued to increase these budding artists' recognition and potential. Almost three years later, in 2008, their second studio album, Showtime was released. Singles featured on the album were "La Vecina" and "Na De Na". This album was released by Machete Music. Otra Nota is the debut album by American singer Marc Anthony that was released on January 26, 1993, by RMM Records. Produced by Sergio George, it was the first album by Anthony to record in salsa after starting his career as a freestyle musician. Recording of the album began after Anthony asked RMM president Ralph Mercado to record Juan Gabriel's "Hasta Que Te Conocí" in salsa after hearing it on the radio during a taxi ride. Recorded on a low budget, the album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Tropical Albums chart and reached No. 30 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart.

The 9th Annual Latin Grammy Awards took place on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas and were aired on Univision. The Brazilian Field awards were presented on the same day at the Ibirapuera Auditorium in São Paulo. The Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year was Gloria Estefan. Juanes was the night's big winner, winning 5 awards including Album of the Year. He now has 17 Latin Grammy awards which is more than any other recording artist. The show was watched by an average of 5.8 millions.
"Da la Vuelta" is a song written by Emilio Estefan and Kike Santander and performed by American singer Marc Anthony. Produced by Anthony, Estefan, and Ángel "Cucco" Peña, it is a salsa track which deals with the singer letting go of his former lover. It is one of the three Spanish-language songs to be included on Anthony's 1999 self-titled album and was released as a promotional single in the same year.

"Y Hubo Alguien" is a song by American singer Marc Anthony from his third studio album, Contra la Corriente (1997). The song was written by Omar Alfanno, with record production being handled by Ángel "Cucco" Peña. It was released as the first promotional single from the album in 1997. A salsa song which combines elements of R&B, it describes a man who has found love again after his former lover left him. The song was inspired by a fight Alfanno had with his partner and pitched the song to RMM, but was turned down. Anthony offered to record the track after Alfanno presented it to him.

The Lo Nuestro Award for Tropical Album of the Year is an honor presented annually by American television network Univision at the Lo Nuestro Awards. The accolade was established to recognize the most talented performers of Latin music. The nominees and winners were originally selected by a voting poll conducted among program directors of Spanish-language radio stations in the United States and also based on chart performance on Billboard Latin music charts, with the results being tabulated and certified by the accounting firm Deloitte. However, since 2004, the winners are selected through an online survey. The trophy awarded is shaped in the form of a treble clef.
