Daan Rots (born 25 July 2001) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a winger for Eredivisie club Twente.

Club career

Rots made his professional debut with Twente in a 4–1 Eredivisie win over FC Emmen on 9 January 2021. [1] On 17 February 2021, he signed his first professional contract with Twente for 2+1 years. [2]

Rots became a starter during the 2021–22 season in which the club finished fourth in the league and qualified for the 2022–23 UEFA Europa Conference League. [3] He contributed with three goals in 30 appearances. [4]

The 2018–19 season is FC Twente's second visit to the Eerste Divisie following their relegation from the 2017–18 Eredivisie. It marks their return to the second highest division in Dutch football after spending 34 consecutive seasons in the top flight of Dutch football. Marino Pusic was promoted to head coach after filling in as interim manager after the departure of Gertjan Verbeek during the 2017–18 season.

The 2020–21 season was FC Emmen's 96th season in existence and the club's third consecutive season in the top flight of Dutch football. In addition to the domestic league, FC Emmen participated in this season's edition of the KNVB Cup. The season covered the period from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021.
