Kulla (plural kullor [1] ) is an older dialectal name for an unmarried woman, used often in most region of Sweden in the vicinity of Dalarna, but in present time mostly used as a term for a woman from Dalarna ("dalkulla"). [2] [3]
In the oldest known source from 1640, kulla is synonymous with "woman." An older, unmarried woman is referred to as gammkulla, while a married woman is referred to as käring. [4]
The male equivalent is dalkarl or mas. [5]

Cephenemyia ulrichii or the moose botfly, also called the elk botfly, moose nose botfly or moose throat botfly, is a large botfly that resembles a bumblebee. In the wild, they attack chiefly the nostrils and pharyngeal cavity of moose, but have been found in other deer species. There have also been several cases of C. ulrichii squirting their larvae into the eyes of human beings, a somewhat painful event that requires medical attention to forestall any possibility of serious damage.
Sheng nu is a term popularized by the All-China Women's Federation that classifies women who remain unmarried in their late twenties and beyond. Most prominently used in China, the term has also been used colloquially to refer to women in India, North America, Europe, and other parts of Asia. The term compares unmarried women to leftover food and has gone on to become widely used in the mainstream media and has been the subject of several television series, magazine and newspaper articles, and book publications, focusing on the negative connotations and positive reclamation of the term. While initially backed and disseminated by pro-government media in 2007, the term eventually came under criticism from government-published newspapers two years later. Xu Xiaomin of The China Daily described the sheng nus as "a social force to be reckoned with" and others have argued the term should be taken as a positive to mean "successful women". The slang term, 3S or 3S Women, meaning "single, seventies (1970s), and stuck" has also been used in place of sheng nu.

Martis Karin Ersdotter was a Swedish businesswoman from Våmhus in Dalarna. She is the best known of the Hårkulla ("Hair-kulla"), the famous category of travelling businesswomen from Dalarna who manufactured and sold hair jewellery all over Europe in the 19th century.
