Dallas Harris is an American politician from Nevada. A Democrat,Harris was appointed to the 11th district of the Nevada Senate on December 4,2018. [1]
Prior to her appointment to the legislature,Harris served with the Nevada Public Utilities Commission as an administrative attorney. [2]
Harris is openly gay. [3] She is one of four openly LGBT members of the Nevada state legislature,alongside senators David Parks,Pat Spearman and Melanie Scheible.
Nevada's 3rd congressional district is a congressional district occupying the area south of Las Vegas,including Henderson,Boulder City,and much of unincorporated Clark County. The district was initially created after the 2000 census.

Article Four of the Constitution of Nevada sets that state senators serve staggered four-year terms.
David Parks is an American politician from Las Vegas,Nevada. A Democrat,he served in the Nevada Senate for 12 years,representing the state's 7th district in Clark County. He was elected to the Senate in November 2008,prior to which he had served in the Nevada Assembly since 1996. He was term-limited in 2020 and did not run for re-election.
Steven Alexzander Horsford is an American politician and businessman serving as the U.S. representative for Nevada's 4th congressional district since 2019,previously holding the position from 2013 to 2015. A member of the Democratic Party,he served in the Nevada Senate,representing the 4th district,in Clark County,from 2005 to 2013. Patricia Ann Spearman is an American cleric,veteran,and Democratic politician from North Las Vegas,Nevada. She was elected in November 2012 to the Nevada Senate representing District 1,that is composed of the northern section of North Las Vegas and slivers of neighboring jurisdictions,after defeating incumbent John Jay Lee in the primary,and winning the general election. Spearman became the first openly lesbian member of the Nevada Legislature. She was re-elected in November 2016,and serves as co-majority whip since. Regarded as one of the most liberal members of the Nevada Senate,Spearman has introduced bills that provide equal pay for women,support LGBT rights,and support veterans. Spearman is also a supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment. Moreover,she was involved in the process of establishing the Nevada Revenue Plan during the 2015 session. On October 6,2021,Spearman entered the 2022 race for Mayor of North Las Vegas,Nevada.
The 2018 United States elections were held on Tuesday,November 6,2018. These midterm elections occurred during Incumbent Republican President Donald Trump's term. Although the Republican Party increased its majority in the Senate,unified Republican control of Congress and the White House was brought to an end when the Democratic Party won control of the House of Representatives in what was widely characterized as a "blue wave" election as Democrats also gained governorships,other statewide offices,and state legislative chambers.
