The Dalsa Cutoff (short for Dallas-San Antonio Cutoff) is a 141-mile railroad line which runs from Hearne, Texas to Flatonia, Texas. One segment of the San Antonio and Arkansas Pass Railway (SA&AP) lives on as part of the cutoff - the section between Giddings to Flatonia. [1]

The San Antonio Express-News is a daily newspaper in San Antonio, Texas. It is owned by the Hearst Corporation and has offices in San Antonio and Austin, Texas. The Express-News is the third largest newspaper in the state of Texas, with a daily circulation of nearly 100,000 copies in 2016. The newspaper's online presence includes both the subscription version of the San Antonio Express-News and the ad-supported mySA.
The San Francisco Chief was a streamlined passenger train on the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway between Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area. It ran from 1954 until 1971. The San Francisco Chief was the last new streamliner introduced by the Santa Fe, its first full train between Chicago and the Bay, the only Chicago–Bay Area train running over just one railroad, and at 2,555 miles (4,112 km) the longest run in the country on one railroad. The San Francisco Chief was one of many trains discontinued when Amtrak began operations in 1971.
The Buffalo Bayou, Brazos, and Colorado Railway, also called the Harrisburg Road or Harrisburg Railroad, was the first operating railroad in Texas. It completed its first segment of track between Harrisburg, Texas and Stafford's Point, Texas in 1853. The company established a western terminus at Alleyton, Texas prior to the Civil War. The railroad was sold after the war and reincorporated as the Galveston, Harrisburg, & San Antonio Railroad. This right of way was acquired by the Southern Pacific Railroad and is today a property of the Union Pacific Railroad.
Texas A&M University–San Antonio is a public university in San Antonio, Texas. It is part of the Texas A&M University System. The university was established on May 23, 2009, and held its first classes as a stand-alone university on August 20, 2009. It currently enrolls approximately 6,546 students and offers undergraduate and graduate-level classes, as well as a graduate alternative teacher certification program. Texas A&M-San Antonio has 161 full and part-time faculty. Texas A&M-San Antonio is the first Texas A&M University System institution to be established in a major urban center.

The San Antonio and Mexican Gulf Railroad (SA&MG) was a railroad set up in 1850 to connect the city of San Antonio to the Gulf of Mexico. The railroad survived the Civil War and merged with the Indianola Railroad into the Gulf, Western Texas and Pacific Railway in 1871.
Muldoon is a town in southwestern Fayette County, Texas, United States, located 10 miles north of Flatonia and 16 miles southwest of La Grange. It is at the junction of FM 154 and FM 2237. Its population, according to the 2010 census, is 114 and is growing very slowly.

The Southern Transcon is a main line of BNSF Railway comprising 11 subdivisions between Southern California and Chicago, Illinois. Completed in its current alignment in 1908 by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, when it opened the Belen Cutoff in New Mexico and bypassed the steep grades of Raton Pass, it now serves as a mostly double-tracked intermodal corridor.

The San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway first began operation in the U.S. state of Texas in 1886. It was developed by Uriah Lott and businessmen of San Antonio as a direct route from the city to Aransas Bay on the Texas Gulf coast. It was eventually absorbed in the 20th century by Southern Pacific.
The Fredericksburg and Northern Railway was a connector line between Fredericksburg, Texas, and the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway. It operated under that name from 1917 until 1942. From 1913 to 1917, it was operated as the San Antonio, Fredericksburg and Northern Railway.
Construction of the Mexia-Nelleva Cutoff started in 1905. The new 94-mile line was built to shorten the distance between the Texas towns of Nelleva, a small community on the north side of Navasota, and Mexia. E.H. Harriman, who controlled the Union Pacific and the Southern Pacific spearheaded construction of the cutoff. Both Mexia and Nelleva were on the existing Houston and Texas Central Railroad (H&TC) between Houston and Dallas via Hearn. The new cutoff would shorten the existing route by about 15 miles with lower grades and fewer curves.

Shawn Willis was an American football fullback who last played for San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League (AFL). He did not see any playing time in his lone season with the team (2007); he did, however, win an AFL Championship when the SaberCats defeated the Columbus Destroyers in ArenaBowl XXI at the end of the season. Willis was placed on the team's injured reserve list on February 18, 2008; he was waived by the SaberCats five days later.
